    Zendaya’s favourite perfume

With so many celebrities endorsing perfumes, it’s one of the reasons why such products sell so well. The fragrance world is growing each year and another celebrity that we’re keen to learn about is Zendaya.

Zendaya’s favourite fragrance is Lancôme Idole and it’s easy to see why, so who is she?

A brief insight into the actress/singers’ history

The world is full of beautiful women, and this American actress, dancer and singer is no exception.

At the age of 27,( born in 1996) she has the world at her feet. She has received Golden Globe awards and two Primetime Emmy awards. Zendaya Marée Stoermer Coleman began her career as a back – up dancer and a child model for Macy’s Melvyn’s and Old Navy.

She went on and made her television debut in 2010, starring in the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up and has featured in several films since then.

Her feature film debut came in 2017 playing alongside her current partner, Tom Holland in the film Spider-Man : homecoming.

Just one of the fantastic Marvel films that both myself and my two sons have enjoyed watching. She also starred in the films’ sequels.

Another popular film, based on a true story,The Greatest Showman sees Zendaya portraying a trapeze artist who falls in love.

The film was a massive hit when it was released in 2017 and is still very much watched today.

Zendaya’s talent doesn’t stop there though. She has also taken the journey into the music world with her delicate vocals on the hit record Rewrite The Stars from the same film/musical.

Her biggest success as a musician, collaborating with Zac Efron. A song that reached the top 20 charts.

    Lancôme Idole

This is a popular scent from the Lancôme range of fragrances. Being a fairly strong eau de parfum that lasts for around eight hours, a light spray is recommended so as not to overwhelm.

Any fragrance should be subtle on the skin.

Lancôme Idole was created in 2019 with a bottle that shows femininity, class and simplicity.

This female scent doesn’t necessarily need lots of sparkle and glamour to be popular.

After all, we don’t wear the bottle. It’s the scent that matters.

On its first spray, this fragrance gives an instant hit of rose, musk and fruit notes.

It is a very womanly fragrance and has a strong kick to it. As the fragrance settles, there’s a definite scent of Pink Pepper and Bergamont.

The White Mask and Cedar are very noticeable as the base notes come through later on.

It has a very clean scent with such popular fragrance notes.

I’m sure it will be a hit for many women who like to make a statement yet still have that touch of class and summer vibe.

As the name suggests ‘Idole‘ brings the fresh fragrance to life for any women who dares to be outspoken, strong and empowered.

I personally would say that it is a more suitable scent for an evening out as opposed to daytime perfume.

It might be a little too heavy for perhaps an office or retail shop working environment.

Lancôme know how to create a variety of scents. When we compare this one with La Vie Est Belle, there is a noticeable difference as the latter is a much sweeter and more versatile fragrance.

That said, there are plenty of women who love strong scents and can carry them off well without being overpowering.

There are lots of positive reviews online from customers who have bought this classic scent.

Beautiful, long-lasting and elegant ” says one. “Perfect for the confident women”

Lasts all day and smells so fresh and sexy” said another.

This fragrance also comes in a refillable bottle that can be taken to selected refill points of sale so you will never have to throw your bottle away.

Zendaya is Lancôme’s youngest endorser for the company and is not only a wearer of their fragrance but also the face of Lancôme Lash Idole mascara.

    Celebrity endorsed perfumes

We see celebrity endorsed perfumes everywhere. Online and on the high street. So when did it all start?

Back in 1987, Elizabeth Taylor first started the trend when she herself launched her perfume called Passion.

The first celebrity to begin the endorsement trend

    Celebrity endorsed perfumes
Elizabeth Taylor’s signature fragrance White Diamonds

This wasn’t her first fragrance either. She created her signature fragrance called White Diamonds in 1991 but the success came with the release of Passion 3 years earlier and became one of the best -selling fragrances of all time.

Surprisingly, Passion isn’t expensive to purchase as you may think.

Take a look on ebay for Passion by Elizabeth Taylor

With such an iconic celebrity at the forefront of this trend, it wasn’t long before the likes of Paris Hilton, Jennifer Aniston and Beyoncé became just some celebrities who saw a market and a platform for following in her footsteps.

It’s a well-known fact that having a celebrity behind their own perfume is going to help massively with perfume sales.

Do men and women simply purchase a designer fragrance because of the name behind it?

Perhaps they did a few years ago but these days it’s not just the name behind the brand that matters. After all, there’s little point in purchasing a Beyoncé fragrance just because such a music icon is behind its creation.

We purchase perfumes for their fragrances notes and longevity too.

Women and men need to like the scent in order to wear it. It’s a waste of money if the bottle is going to sit in the wardrobe and never be worn.

It’s not just perfume either that celebrities have endorsements on.

Anything from clothing, jewellery and hand bags all have a touch of celebrity attached.

Items that are endorsed by famous people will sell much quicker too. It’s a very clever marketing strategy and one that has been around for many years.

    Celebrity endorsed products

When a celebrity endorses a product, this gives scope for the product to reach a larger audience and therefore making more sales.
When we see a perfume that has been endorsed by Beyoncé for example, it immediately gives the buyer confidence in their purchase as the person behind the brand is well-known.
Having such an iconic celebrity also makes the product more appealing.
Have you noticed how attractive the celebrities are who endorse products ? It makes it more enchanting.

    Buying a well-known perfume

Purchasing a perfume from a celebrity has a positive impact on the buyer and when they wear the fragrance created by their favourite singer/celebrity, it instantly gives confidence.
The consumer also feels more important because they are wearing such a fragrance.
Whenever we see a perfume being advertised on the TV, it will always have a famous face in the commercial.

    The cost of perfume

The cost of perfume is often a talking point when designer fragrances are mentioned.

Therefore, saving money is a focus for many of us. If we can find a suitable fragrance that is a better price and suits our needs, we’re all for that.

Working with a perfume company brings its fair share of questions.

One of the questions that is most asked is what the difference is between designer fragrances and Fm fragrances.

Many have been very skeptical over the years, certainly more so in the early days when FM was created.

    The cost of perfume
Drom create perfume oil for many designers as well as FM

How can a perfume that smells almost identical to a designer one cost so much less? Here’s a breakdown of the difference and where your money actually goes when you purchase both.

Designer- the true cost of perfume

Do you sell designer perfume ?

When it comes to design perfumes, the first thing we think of is the fancy packaging.

Some boxes are just as creative as the bottles and its good practice to keep them in the box away from direct sunlight when storing. They will last longer when stored correctly.

One of the main features that stand out with designer perfumes is their stunning bottles.

There are some gorgeous bottles in the stores and this alone makes the product eye-catching for the customer.

When a product stands out, we are more likely to purchase it.

Some most distinctive bottles are Angel by Thierry Muglar. Shaped like a star. Not the most practical bottle as it doesn’t stand up on its own. That one is definitely best to keep in its box.

    The cost of perfume
    Angel perfume by Thierry Mugler

Another one which is likely to catch the eye is Good Girl by Carolina Herrera. A very large bottle that’s shaped like a blue stiletto shoe and another one that isn’t practical for every day.

Especially if you want to take it with you in your handbag for a night out.

We are certainly a visual nation when it comes to designer bottles and packaging.

Besides a small portion of money going towards the fancy packaging, what else does the customer pay for ?

    Celebrity perfumes

Every celebrity perfume will have a celebrity endorser.

    The cost of perfume

A celebrity endorser is someone famous who uses their status and fame to advertise a product or brand.

They get paid thousands of pounds to advertise a product such as a fragrance, in an advert that may only last 30 seconds.

Everything from the hair, the make up and the wardrobe to the backdrop set or destination of the advert will cost money and lots of it.

    Advertising

TV advertising is another part of where our money goes.

You’ll often see perfume adverts, especially around Christmas time when TV bosses will take advantage of viewers watching TV during the run up to Christmas.

Customers are looking at ideas for gifts and what better way than showcase a product during peak time.

Christmas adverts seem to start earlier each year, as early as October. The TV screen gets showered in adverts to encourage early sales.

    Diluted perfume oil

Designers fragrance perfume oil is diluted so the expensive bottle of Chanel No 5 that you’ve purchase won’t last as long as you’re hoping.

We all expect a scent to last for the working day at best without the need to re apply.

This is the production line before your fragrance reaches your shopping basket.

    Manufacturers ➡️ warehouse ➡️ distribution centre ➡️retailers ➡️ customers.

So when we see just what and who is involved in creating a designer perfume, it highlights why the cost can be expensive, especially the top end brands.

FM perfumes- an alternate to high street brands

As we’ve just highlighted about the packaging of designer perfumes, FM use simple packaging.

We don’t need to put our bottle inside fancy boxes. No one see the box when you purchase a new bottle so why pay money for it ?

We also have a simple bottle design. Customers are not paying for the bottle when it comes to FM perfumes.

It’s the contents inside that matters the most.

Pure oil is used when FM perfumes are created. They don’t dilute the perfume oil so your perfume will last much longer.

Distributor ➡️ customer- it’s really a simple process and as we don’t have a ‘middle man’ we can keep the costs low for you. No advertising, no endorses, no expensive packaging.

Keeping more money in your purse

We know the importance of having a fragrance that lasts and is kind to your purse/wallet.

Many of you have made the swap and are making huge savings on your fragrances.

    Remember:

    • No one sees the fancy box
    • No one see the fancy bottle
    • Celebrities get paid thousands to advertise
    • TV adverts cost thousands to produce
    • Your perfume oil gets diluted
    • There’s a long chain before the customer gets their product.

So, why are designer perfumes so expensive?

    Do you sell designer perfume

Do you sell designer perfume? This is a question I have often been asked since I became a distributor for FM World.

“I like Chanel no.5. Can you get me a bottle?” The answer it’s always “no” so let me explain the reason why you won’t be able to purchase a designer bottle from the perfume company.

At FM World we are our own brand. So what does that mean?

    Being a brand name

Having your own brand typically refers to creating and establishing a unique identity for a product, service, or individual. It involves developing a distinct personality, reputation, and image that sets you apart from competitors and resonates with your target audience. A brand represents the perceptions, values, and experiences associated with a particular entity or offering.

Having an identity is a brand having a clear and consistent identity that reflects your purpose, values, and mission. It defines who you are, what you stand for, and what you offer.

A strong brand sets itself apart from competitors by highlighting its unique selling points and distinctive qualities. It emphasizes what makes it special or different and positions itself as the preferred choice in the minds of consumers.

A well-established brand ( FM World began its journey in 2004) grows trust and credibility with its audience. Consistently delivering on promises, providing quality products or services, and maintaining excellent customer experiences helps build a positive reputation.

Our brand has become worldwide and hugely successful as we have created an emotional connection with our target audience. This connection helps build loyalty and has encouraged our customers to become advocates for the brand.

At FM World we have thousands of distributors like myself, as well as leaders and loyal customers who all enjoy the products that the company have created.

If we did have a bottle of Chanel no. 5 that we could see, it would be in the same style bottle with the same packaging. This would then be classed as a copy and a fake bottle.

You won’t find any of our fragrances in designer boxes carrying a designer name because we simply do not sell designer fragrances or copies of them.

Another question I sometimes get asked is “so how do our fragrances smell the same if they are not copies? “

For many years, there has been a myth that our fragrances are a copy of the designers so let’s look into that and clarify a few things.

    Fake designer perfume

We’ve all come across a fake product at some point in our lives but what does a copied fragrance look like?

A fragrance that is copied will often come in the same packaging and the same bottle but the actual fragrance will be very diluted, therefore proving that the so-called designer fragrance you have purchased, is indeed fake.

If our fragrances were fake, they would be in the same bottle and packaging as the original designer fragrances.

As you will see, our fragrances have their own design, their own bottle and we don’t need to dilute our perfumes. Quite the opposite. With our perfumes you receive more perfume oil in each of our bottles than that of the designers, who often use around 16% perfume oil compared to FM’S 20% oil.

    Long lasting fragrances

Many of our fragrances do smell very similar, if not identical but that’s not because we’ve copied them. We use the same company for our perfume oils called DROM.

This huge company provides perfume oil to many of the designer names such as Chanel, Gucci and Calvin Klein to name a few. They also provide to FM World.

FM also use the same fragrance notes from the fragrance families.

    Perfume notes

Fragrance families are a way to categorize and classify different types of perfumes based on their dominant scent characteristics. There are several commonly recognized fragrance families, including:

    1. Floral: This family encompasses fragrances that feature the scents of various flowers, such as rose, jasmine, lily, and violet. Floral perfumes are often feminine and romantic.

    2. Oriental: Also known as “amber” or “spicy” fragrances, oriental perfumes are rich, exotic, and often warm. They may contain notes of spices, vanilla, musk, and precious woods like sandalwood or patchouli.

    3. Woody: Fragrances in this family are centered around woody notes like cedar, pine, or sandalwood. They can be earthy, masculine, and evoke the scent of forests.

    4. Fresh: Fresh fragrances are light, clean, and invigorating. They often include notes like citrus fruits (lemon, bergamot), green leaves, and aquatic elements.

    5. Citrus: This family focuses on the bright and refreshing scents of citrus fruits, such as lemon, orange, grapefruit, and bergamot. Citrus perfumes are lively and energetic.

    6. Chypre: Chypre fragrances have a distinctive composition featuring a combination of citrus top notes, floral middle notes, and mossy or woody base notes. They are sophisticated and timeless.

    7. Fougère: The fougère family is characterized by aromatic notes, such as lavender, oakmoss, and coumarin. These fragrances often have a masculine quality and are commonly used in men’s colognes.

    8. Gourmand: Gourmand fragrances evoke the scent of edible treats and desserts. They often feature notes like vanilla, chocolate, caramel, or coffee and create a sweet and indulgent aroma.

    9. Aromatic: Aromatic fragrances highlight herbs and spices like lavender, basil, sage, or thyme. They can be refreshing and are commonly used in men’s and unisex scents.

    10. Leather: Leather fragrances capture the scent of leather, often with additional notes like tobacco, spices, or woods. They can be bold, smoky, and evoke a sense of luxury.

These fragrance families provide a framework for understanding the dominant scent characteristics of different perfumes, but many fragrances may contain elements from multiple families or defy easy categorization.

With our fragrance families and notes, we fall into several categories. If we were to use similar fragrance notes for one of our perfumes that the designers use for theirs, there will very likely be a similarity in the scent.

     Selling designer perfume

Unlike the designers, who use celebrity endorsers, TV advertising and less perfume oil (EDT) at FM we don’t need to dilute our product.

    Name brand perfumes

When it comes to name brand perfumes, why are they so expensive and why do we pay so much money ?

I  remember having a nose in my mums wardrobe when I was younger and there was often a Chanel or YSL perfume sitting on the shelf or an Elizabeth Arden lipstick. My mum expensive taste so several of her cosmetic and perfume items were well-known names in the beauty industry.

    Name brand perfumes

Of course, when I was young I knew no different with regard to expensive brands. To me, it was just a bottle of perfume, or a lipstick.

It wasn’t until later in life that I realised just how expensive some of her items were. As a youngster, I was completely unaware of how pricing worked.

Once we look into it deeper, we learn how prices vary so much depending on where you purchase from and who is behind the named brands.

Name brand perfumes refer to fragrances produced by well-known and established perfume houses or luxury brands. These brands have earned their reputation over the years by creating high-quality and unique fragrances that cater to a diverse range of tastes and preferences.

Some of the most famous and respected name brand perfume houses include Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Prada, Versace, Tom Ford, and many more. Lots of names that many of us are familiar with and possibly already own.

Quality and Ingredients: Name brand perfumes often use premium quality ingredients and are crafted by skilled perfumers. They invest in research and development to create distinctive and long-lasting scents that set them apart from generic fragrances.

Variety of Scents: They offer a wide variety of fragrances, ranging from floral and fruity to woody, oriental, and spicy. They have perfumes for both men and women, as well as unisex fragrances.

Packaging and Presentation: These brands pay attention to the overall experience of using their perfumes. Their packaging is often luxurious and visually appealing, making the perfumes not just a scent but also an aesthetic experience.

Longevity and Sillage: Name brand perfumes are known for their longevity, meaning the fragrance lasts for an extended period on the skin. Additionally, they often have a strong sillage, which is the trail of scent that lingers in the air as you move.

Status and Prestige: Wearing a name brand perfume can be a symbol of luxury, elegance, and prestige. People often associate these fragrances with high social status and exclusivity.

Safety and Regulations: Established perfume brands adhere to strict safety standards and regulations. This ensures that their products are safe for use and comply with industry guidelines and legal requirements.

When choosing a name brand perfume, it’s essential to consider your personal preferences and how the scent complements your body chemistry. Perfume reacts differently on each individual, so what smells great on one person may not have the same effect on another.

It’s also worth exploring the fragrance notes, as perfumes often have top, middle, and base notes that evolve over time. Test the perfume on your skin before making a purchase, as the scent may change slightly after interacting with your body’s natural oils.

Finally, while name brand perfumes can be more expensive than generic options, they often justify their higher price with superior quality, exclusivity, and a unique olfactory experience.

The price of name brand perfume

We all see ‘expensive’ in different ways. Some might say that a product is expensive because they can’t afford to buy it, whilst others see it as ‘not worth the price tag’. Not all perfume is expensive these days.

So what makes brands expensive ?

Whilst one product alone may not break the bank, having several high end items in your perfume collection will soon add up. We all know just how much money women alone can spend on these items as well as skin care and cosmetics.

Luxury perfume and cosmetics are two of the top products that women buy. When it comes to perfume, a very small percentage is the actual cost of the scent alone. The majority of what we are paying for is the cost of the packaging, marketing and advertising of the product, along with the celebrity endorsement.

If the perfume isn’t advertised then no one will actually know about it to purchase in the first place, so a large chunk of the money we pay as a consumer goes towards the advertising of  these brands.

Men and women will often purchase known brands, therefore they are paying not just for the product, but the marketing, the brand name and prestige that comes with such names.

     The power of branding

Just like a bottle of Chanel perfume, no one sees your lipstick container or it’s brand name. It sits in your handbag until it’s used.

At FM World we sell affordable make up as well as our large collection of fragrances and just like the designers, we never compromise on the quality either. The difference between us and the designer companies is that we don’t need to advertise on TV.

There are millions of distributors around the world, just like myself who help both men and women choose the right scent for them and one that is affordable.

We speak to friends/family and work colleagues about our fragrances and inform them that we can save customers money by buying an alternative bottle. We are also a cruelty-free company which is an important factor these days and with an affordable price tag, we can help others save money and still enjoy their favourite scents.

    Conclusion

Name brand perfumes hold a prominent position in the world of fragrance, renowned for their exceptional quality, diverse range of scents, and luxurious presentation.

These established perfume houses have earned their reputation through a commitment to crafting unique and long-lasting fragrances that cater to a wide array of tastes and preferences.

Choosing a name brand perfume offers not just a scent but also an indulgent experience that reflects luxury, elegance, and prestige. The attention to detail in the ingredients, packaging, design of bottles and presentation ensures that wearing these perfumes is a symbol of refined taste and sophistication.

When selecting a name brand perfume, remember to consider individual preferences and how the fragrance interacts with your own body chemistry. Always try the scent on your skin before making a purchase to ensure it complements your unique aroma.

While name brand perfumes may come with a higher price tag, they justify their value through superior quality, design, packaging and advertising. Investing in a name brand perfume not only enhances your personal scent but also adds a touch of luxury to your daily routine.

    High street perfumes

Perfumes have been a part of human history and culture and has become an essential accessory that we all use today.

For both men and women, high street perfumes are used for personal pleasure or to make a lasting impression and a good scented fragrance can be a powerful tool.

    High street perfumes

However, luxury fragrances from high-end brands can often come with a hefty price tag, leaving many perfume enthusiasts on the look out for more affordable alternatives.

High street perfumes are the charming solution that brings delightful scents to all fragrance lovers without breaking the bank.

    What is High Street Perfume?

High street perfume refers to fragrances available on the high street, where we can find a wide range of stores, including popular brands and independent retailers.

These perfumes are affordable and accessible fragrance options that can be found in many mainstream stores, making them a popular choice for budget-conscious consumers.

We all look for quality in a fragrance as well as one that fits our budget and the quality of such perfumes has significantly improved over the years, providing consumers with an extensive selection of fragrances to suit every taste. Whether it’s a daytime scent for wearing to work or a stronger fragrance for a night out, we all have our own favourites and want them to be affordable to our budget.

While luxury brands have their unique appeal, high street perfumes boast a diverse range of scents, from floral and fruity to woody and oriental, catering to a wide range of preferences.

Major high street retailers have taken note of the increasing demand for budget-friendly fragrances and have invested in creating their own perfume lines. There are many celebrities these days that have created their own unique range and many of these are still within a good price band.

After all, the celebrities and their perfume creators know how much their products influence many of us, from actors to pop stars, so they know they need to keep prices affordable.

Luxury perfumes often undergo extensive research and testing to ensure they meet high standards of quality and appeal to the masses.

One of the most significant advantages of high street perfumes is their affordability.

Unlike luxury fragrances that may cost a small fortune, high street options offer an affordable way for people to explore various scents without making a significant dent in their wallets.

As a result, they have become immensely popular among young adults, students, and those who wish to switch up their fragrance frequently without breaking the bank. Moreover, affordability does not mean compromising on quality.

Many high street perfumes are skillfully crafted by expert perfumers who use quality ingredients to create captivating and long-lasting scents.

While they may not be as intricate as some luxury fragrances, they still provide an enjoyable olfactory experience at a fraction of the cost.

Another advantage of high street perfumes is their accessibility and convenience. They can be found in a multitude of stores, ranging from drugstores and supermarkets to dedicated perfume retailers and high street fashion outlets.

This widespread availability makes it easy for consumers to find and purchase their favourite scents without having to visit specialized perfume boutiques.

Additionally, high street perfumes are often available in various sizes, including travel-friendly bottles, making them convenient companions for those on the go.
