You’re absolutely right; when the pandemic hit, more and more people started looking for opportunities to make money online. While there are many legit programs including Wealthy Affiliate, there are also a lot of scammers who want to take advantage of unsuspecting people.
Before coming over to WA, I also tried other programs and signed up for a free membership. Although I did learn some of the basics of affiliate marketing, it was difficult to move forward without paying and it’s not cheap. Also, when I was starting, I couldn’t decide what niche to go with and that’s why I was stuck for a couple of months. I literally dropped everything and almost gave up.
But I was determined to succeed in affiliate marketing so I started over again and that’s when I came across WA. I signed up for the start-up membership level and from there, I went on to upgrade. I am still with WA after more than 5 years because I know that it’s hard to find a program that is as good as WA.
It’s true; there are pros and cons to every program but that does not mean we cannot succeed.
If you don’t mind me asking, how long have you been with WA (on a paid membership) before you started making enough money to pay for your membership? What were your struggles when you were starting and what would you advise to new members?

Thank you very much for your comments and experience with looking online yourself at affiliate marketing. Sometimes it is a matter of determination and making things work and it’s great to hear that you are still with the same platform five years later. The pros far outweigh the cons.
I have been with wealthy affiliate since August 2020, and I signed up to premium a couple of weeks later. I was very fortunate to already have the money each month to pay for my membership (I was paying monthly back then) due to having my own business and also working in a full-time job. I certainly wouldn’t have been able to join if I was relying on the platform to earn me money straight away to pay for my membership. I now pay yearly as it is a great price for the amount of training and benefits that we receive.
I did find it a little overwhelming to begin with, as I am the kind of person that likes to learn things all in one day and this simply isn’t possible. I was determined to get to grips with how it all worked and took it step-by-step. Within a few weeks, I had learnt so much and had familiarised myself with the benefits of affiliate marketing and how the platform worked.
