Luxury candles have always been popular; surprisingly, they are not too expensive. We all like luxury now and then, whether it’s a holiday, a new perfume or an item of clothing. It’s the feel-good factor of purchasing something.
Retail therapy may have moved more online over the past few years, but that hasn’t stopped anyone from buying the occasional treat. Everyone loves candles. Whatever the time of year or season, they bring charm and cosiness to any home.
Many people have been using them throughout the summer months. They brighten the garden during warm evenings and help keep pesky insects at bay—a must while we’ve enjoyed BBQs and outdoor space for several months.
I love candles for their fragrance and the tranquillity of watching them burn, especially on a cold winter’s evening.
Some might say they are too nice to burn, but I see little point in having a candle that collects dust, so strike a match, pop one in your lounge/dining room, wherever you wish, and enjoy the atmosphere they create. I’m sure many luxury candles are sitting in someone’s home that has never been lit.
We don’t buy candles to keep as dust collectors, and every day we wake up and breathe is a special day, so go ahead and light that candle.

What are luxury candles?
Such a word can be misleading, yet it doesn’t have to mean expensive to purchase. Candles are labelled as luxury because of the fine ingredients used in their production. Many are affordable and generally last longer, too, so the money you pay goes that much further.
Unlike luxury perfumes that can carry an eye-watering price tag if you purchase high-quality designer brands, candles are made with better ingredients and longer wicks. Their price doesn’t appear to reflect as much as perfumes do.

Luxury candles usually use top-quality soy, beeswax, or coconut wax. Paraffin wax has a lower price tag so that the candles won’t burn for as long.
Many candles are made with a combination of ingredients, and luxury candles rarely contain tallow. Tallow is a complex, fatty substance derived from animals used to make candles and soap bars.
The best ingredient for a luxury candle is to purchase one that uses soy wax. Yes, it is more expensive, but you will find that those candles made with such ingredients will burn more evenly, and you won’t see as much smoke or soot as you would from cheaper brands.
Many times, we have all purchased candles at the cheaper end of our budget, and after a few hours of burning the wick, the candle burns unevenly and produces a lot of smoke and toxic fumes.
Some candles will have ingredients such as coconut oil or beeswax.
The benefits of using soy candles
Soy candles are non-toxic, so you know that as soon as you light the wick, the candle won’t release any toxins into the air. However, it is worth considering the environment when purchasing certain types of candles.
If you are a pet owner, it is much more beneficial for the animal to have a healthier and cleaner option in your candle product. We know that soy wax candles are made of plants, so they won’t release harmful toxins into the atmosphere, so your pets will be safe.
Whilst soy wax candles are a better choice for your home, they still impact the environment. They contribute to deforestation, affecting animals that live on the surrounding land, those that use trees as their habitat, and aquatic life.
That said, they are still one of the most popular when it comes to candle production.
Pros and cons of buying paraffin wax candles
Paraffin wax has benefits when used therapeutically (it increases blood flow, relaxes muscles and joints, and relieves body pain).
Paraffin wax also has cosmetic benefits, such as moisturizing the skin to keep it soft and supple. However, with the good also comes the bad. Paraffin wax contains harmful toxins.
If you have ever burned a paraffin candle, you may already have noticed the soot deposited onto your furniture or interior walls. It is not a pleasant sight and can be difficult to remove.
When you burn a paraffin wax candle, it is similar to burning petroleum, the same fumes we get from our cars, as paraffin is a component of petroleum. Such fumes can quickly enter the lungs and become a big issue, especially in children.
If we use paraffin wax, our environment suffers, too. As it is a petroleum-based source, it harms the environment, just as car fumes impact our world. Paraffin’s components make it highly flammable, making it not a safe item to have in your home.
Once lit, there is no control over how that candle will burn.

Beeswax is an eco-friendly and better option. It is 100% natural and a renewable source. When you burn a candle made of beeswax, it does not produce smoke or soot and, therefore, burns much cleaner.

The pros and cons of buying coconut wax
Coconut wax is cleaner and more sustainable than soy candles when burning candles. It burns more slowly, and the fragrance in a coconut wax candle will fill your home with a beautiful scent. Coconut wax is eco-friendly and suitable for vegans who may prefer not to buy beeswax.

You will still experience a good fragrance from the candle. You may notice that some candles have quite a long wick, and people often forget to trim them before lighting.
If lit without trimming, they will burn faster, have a hotter flame, and produce more soot.

Apart from our faces, our hands are always on show throughout the year, and it shows if we don’t look after them. By using a hand exfoliating scrub, we can make sure that our hands look and feel perfect all the time.
We spend so much on skincare products, face peel masks, or foot exfoliating gels that we often forget our hands. Although many people use hand cream regularly, sometimes our hands need extra help if they become dehydrated.

Particularly in the winter, hands that are constantly in water and not dried thoroughly can become very sore and cracked and in some cases, they can bleed across the knuckles.
We all know prevention is better than cure, so keeping our hands moisturised even when they don’t appear dry means we are halfway there to maintain the proper pH balance for our skin.
Sometimes, even a good hand cream isn’t enough, and we must remove dead skin to feel and see a smooth surface.
Just like when we reach for our face packs on a girly evening or pop our feet into an exfoliating foot peel to remove dead skin and get our feet summer-ready, our hands sometimes need that extra treatment, too.

Getting into a routine

Harry Styles burst onto our screens as a 16-year-old in 2010 when he auditioned for the X Factor. Since then, he has become one-fifth of the boy band One Direction and has continued his success as a solo artist to this day.
Harry has been wearing the scent Memoire D’une Odeur by Gucci since starting in several campaigns for the fragrance.
This gender-neutral scent is perhaps contrary to what we may expect Harry to wear, given his unique fashion wardrobe. Enhancing Your Home with Perfume Samples
If you don’t want to wear or give away your perfume samples, there are several things you can do with them.
The potpourri on your kitchen windowsill that has lost its scent can be quickly revived by sprinkling drops of your perfume sample on top.
Sprinkle some perfume onto your potpourri for a delicate scent in the home Take a sample abroad for your holidays. When the airport limits the amount of liquid we can take, a sample bottle is the perfect solution, and you can take a few different scents with you, too.

During the winter and cooler months, our feet spend lots of time confined in socks and closed-in shoes. It’s easy to forget about their care until we return home from work, step into the shower, and notice the dry skin forming around our heels and big toes.
The heels and the areas around the big toe are prone to dryness. Allowing the skin on your heels to dry can lead to painful cracks. Trust me, it can be very uncomfortable if it reaches that point. Remember, prevention is better than a cure.
Our feet are essential.
In winter, it’s easy to neglect our feet since they’re often hidden away in shoes and boots, out of sight and out of mind. Perhaps that’s one reason why we tend to prioritise the care of our hands over our feet.
Many of us spend considerable time on our feet each day at work. Our feet bear the brunt of being squeezed into tight shoes or boots to support our bodies for extended periods.
While showers and baths help maintain some level of cleanliness for our feet, it’s not until summer that we suddenly realise the extent of their neglect, as we observe dry and calloused skin starting to form.

Open-toe shoes have become tempting, but we may discover that our feet don’t look as elegant and moisturised as expected. Many women, like myself, maintain painted toenails year-round, while some reserve nail polish for the summer season, showcasing vibrant colours with appropriate footwear.
We commonly focus on the parts of our body that are most visible to others, like our face and hands. We invest time in skincare routines to ensure our skin remains healthy, moisturised and well-hydrated. Don’t forget about your feet.
We can maintain our foot skincare routine by washing, moisturising, and using a pumice stone to remove excess dead skin cells, which is effective to some extent. However, this extra care often gets overlooked because it requires time and isn’t seen as essential as caring for our hands and faces, which are always visible.
For the best results, it’s essential to prep the skin before using a pumice stone, typically after a bath or shower when the skin is soft and can be gently removed. Pumice stones wear down over time, so it’s best to use them when wet, which allows them to glide smoothly over calloused skin. Soaking your feet in warm water further softens the skin, making the process easier.
Pumice stones are affordable and widely available. While they are excellent for softening hard skin on your feet, you’ll need to use them regularly to maintain soft and smooth skin.
Using an exfoliating foot peel
Exfoliating foot peels offer several benefits. They can help remove dead skin cells, calluses, and rough patches, making your feet smoother and softer. However, like face sheet masks, a wide variety of brands are available on the market, so choosing the right one can be challenging.
I had encountered reviews of the foot peel by FM World, so I was eager to try it. The package contains two liquid sachets and two sock bags. You pour the liquid into separate sock bags, one for each foot.
Before using the exfoliating foot peel, remove any nail polish. Clean, dry feet are inserted into the bags provided. The sticky labels secure the bags around your ankles for a snug fit. The instructions advise wearing the bags for 60 to 90 minutes, an excellent opportunity to relax, watch TV, or read a book.

After the designated time, remove your feet from the bags, rinse the remaining liquid with water, and gently pat your feet dry. The exfoliation process will begin within 4 to 7 days and continue for 3 to 5 days.

Over the past two years, our faces have spent so much time under a surgical mask, contributing to one reason why many of us have suffered from dry skin. What better way to look after our skin than to use a hydrotherapy sheet mask?
It’s not just women who seek products to help with their skin. Today, many men take just as much care to use skin products, and they’re not shy about using any either. It was great timing, as thousands of us were forced to work from home or try to find other things to do and have lots of nights in. We finally had the time to pamper ourselves. We used hair masks, painted our nails, and kept up with our skincare routine. We had a beautiful summer that year. How to use the Hydrotherapy sheet mask
You must follow your daily skincare routine and cleanse the skin before applying the mask. It’s important to remember that the hydrotherapy sheet mask does not exfoliate the skin. You can use a separate product called Aloe Vera Peel-Off Facial Mask.
What’s lovely about the hydrotherapy sheet is its moisture dripping. At first, the sheet looks too big to fit anyone’s face. Once it’s on and gently smoothed onto the skin, there is enough sheet to fit the face and the neck.
Please sit back, relax with some music and leave the mask to do its magic for 15 minutes. Once you take the sheet off, use the excess for your neck. Plenty of moisture is in one sheet, so add some to this area, too.
Rinse your face with cool water, gently pat dry, and feel the instant benefit of smooth, hydrated, glowing skin.
It is recommended to use face masks at least once a month, but we all know how busy we get, and this isn’t always possible.
Like our daily skincare routine, we need to habitually use other products because we will undoubtedly see the benefit later.

After using the hydrotherapy sheet on three or four occasions, I noticed that the fine wrinkles around my eyes had improved and appeared smoother. These won’t be visible the first time you use the sheet, so it’s good to use it regularly for maximum benefit. As we get older, we constantly fight the signs of ageing.
The first sign that many of us see, for both men and women, are fine lines around the lips and the eye area. Skin needs more of an intense moisturiser than many of the products that we see and purchase in shops and online can give. They often sit on the skin’s surface and don’t penetrate to the deeper layers.
Using a facial sheet regularly will enable the skin to maintain its elasticity and prevent it from drying out from elements such as hot weather and central heating throughout the winter. When the skin is moisturised, women’s makeup will sit better, be more accessible to apply, and last longer. For the men, this will allow their skin to stay moisturised, primarily if they work outdoors in all weather.
It will also prevent the skin from tightening and feeling uncomfortable.

Everyone loves candles, and they’re not just for the winter months. Summer-scented candles are just as popular. We already know that candles have existed for many years and have many uses.
