Although they were already popular decorations in the 1980s, it was in the 1990s that we witnessed a significant shift in interest in scented candles.

Over the decades, candles have served various purposes in our lives, and it’s safe to say that almost every household has at least one type of candle. Once, they were primarily used for illumination, offering an easy way to light up a room and move from one space to another.

Tea lights
Tea light candles held a special place during Christmas, frequently positioned as table centrepieces. These small candles were typically unscented and were central to holiday decor. The trend for exquisite tea light holders emerged, and it seemed like every store offered a diverse selection.
Scented candles also rose in popularity, coming in various shapes and sizes. The creativity extended to their colours and designs as well. It became common for almost every home to have at least one candle, carefully placed to serve as a decorative feature.
Some candles were so aesthetically pleasing that they were considered more of a decoration than something that we light. Burning these candles can feel like a waste, especially when they are pricier. Once burned down, they no longer serve their purpose, and the remnants are discarded to make room for a new candle.

Some people buy and never light candles, which often feels like a waste. They leave these untouched candles on their bedside units or dining room tables in their original, pristine condition.
The candles are purchased primarily to display them. However, whether unburned or left as a decorative piece, it seemed like a missed opportunity to enjoy the candle’s essence.
