    Affordable perfumes that smell expensive

If you’re looking for affordable perfumes that smell expensive, we have an insight into the best fragrances.

Everyone loves a bargain and getting value for money.

    Affordable perfumes that smell expensive

The perfume world continues to sour every year with such a variety of fragrances.

Celebrity endorsed, copies of designer scents, own shop brands and perfumes that contain similar notes to that of the designers.

At FM World, there is a huge selection of perfumes and aftershaves that suit any budget.

There’s nothing good about wearing a perfume or aftershave that smells cheap.

Heavy scents can linger for hours as well as very weak scents not lasting as long as we’d like.

Many of us will reach for the designer bottles because they are known and trusted to us.

When the fragrance has a celebrity endorser too, this makes the product more appealing even though it can be a little expensive.

The market has and will always have designer brands being sold for cheap. These are usually fake and should be avoided.

Read our article on why buying cheap perfume will cost you more.

    Scent matters

We like to have the best of both worlds. A fragrance that has a pleasant and suitable scent, long-lasting and kind to the purse strings or wallet.

Some will wait for a special occasion before purchasing the designer scents or purchase at the Duty Free for a small discount.

What about when you want to purchase your favourite scent without having to wait for these occasions ?

There will be many places online that sell designer scents that are fitting to people’s budgets but there are other options.

At FM World, they have created their own unique scents for men and women.

A large range of fragrances to suit everyone’s budget without compromising on the quality or longevity of their scents.

How can they do this ?

We already know that perfumes and aftershaves are made up from perfume oil, alcohol and fragrance notes but what makes a perfume so expensive ?

In my previous article I cover why some designer perfumes have a big price tag.

The unique way that FM World have created their own scents and kept them affordable isn’t complicated.

Celebrities are constantly endorsing the latest fragrances and we see the advert, usually around Christmas, where that particular bottle is being advertised by a top actress, model or film star.

It’s a very clever way of getting a product in front of the customer and a large audience at that.

FM World saw an opportunity to create beautiful fragrances that both men and women can enjoy and be able to afford.

Not just on special occasions, but regular purchasing once their favourite scent had been used and needed replacing.

Customers are able to do this as well as having a selection of their favourite scents to choose from and having the option to wear a different one every day if they desired.

Having no middle man, TV advertising or sales people advertising their brand means that they can keep costs to a minimum whilst still creating beautiful scents that customers are familiar with.

The perfume world has seen such names as Tom Ford and Jo Malone scents become very popular of late along with the likes of the iconic Chanel, Paco Rabanne and Lancôme still dominating the perfume industry.

    Affordable perfumes that smell expensive
Jo Malone is a popular scent for both men and women

    Affordable perfumes than smell expensive
    The iconic Chanel no.5

We could potentially pay anything from £70- £120 for such high profile scents.

Whilst there will indeed be many that will happily pay such a price for their perfume or aftershave, a lot of what we are purchasing is around the packaging, the celebrity endorser and the TV advert.

Can we really buy our favourite scent cheaper?

No one likes cheap perfume and aftershave.

It often has a different smell, doesn’t last for the duration that we hope for and in some cases where a product has been ‘copied’, you’re dealing with fake packaging and fake liquids in a fake bottle.

An affordable range at FM World

FM fragrances for men and women don’t compromise on quality even though they do has a more affordable price tag.
As previously covered, Fm use perfume oil from a company called DROM.
DROM also provide perfume oil for the designer perfumes and aftershaves that we see on our shelves and online today.
When customers ask about our fragrances, we advise that FM scents have very similar fragrance notes to that of the designer perfumes.

We use a fragrance wheel to determine what type of fragrance notes the customer particularly likes.

    Floral, oriental, woody, citrus etc.

    Affordable perfumes that smell expensive

Once we learn the type of fragrance notes that a customer likes, this will enable us to narrow down a selection of perfumes or aftershave that contain those fragrance notes that the customer likes.

For example, if a customer likes fruity scents then we has a selection of perfume fragrances that contain fruity notes.

When the customer try’s a sample which are available to purchase from our online store here, this will give them the chance to try the scent on the skin to see if it is a fit for them.

    Affordable perfumes that smell expensive
FM have over 200 perfume and aftershave samples to choose from

We always recommend that a fragrance should be tried on the skin and left for a couple of minutes as this will determine if that fragrance is suitable for that particular person.

We all wear fragrances differently and what suits one person wouldn’t necessarily suit another.

It is great that we have the option these days to try fragrances before we purchase, especially if we do steer towards the expensive perfumes.

Many perfume stores and departments will spray the perfume on a test paper strip for you to try.

Whilst this is okay to get an initial test of the fragrance, this won’t determine what the fragrance smells like on your skin.

It is much better and more effective to try directly on the skin to get a proper feel and smell of your new scent before you make a purchase.

    Similar fragrance notes

All fragrances that FM sell has very similar notes to the designer fragrances.

If a customer has a favourite perfume scent such as Coco mademoiselle by Chanel then we can look on our perfume list to see what perfume is very similar to that designer perfume.

We can’t sell a bottle of Coco mademoiselle to a customer because we don’t sell it. Our fragrance bottles are numbered and are in their own bottles and packaging.

Fm haven’t copied any of the designers. Simply by using similar fragrance notes to that of the designer fragrances, gives FM perfumes a very similar and familiar scent to what we already know.

    Our range of quality fragrances

In our range we have PURE and PURE ROYAL selection. We also has a UTIQUE range.
All of our fragrances contain either 20% or 30% perfume oil. 30% is our INTENSE range.
    Shop here for our collection.
Many designer fragrances are Eau De Toilette scents and therefore they won’t last as long as an Eau de parfum because their perfume oil has been diluted down.
At FM, we can afford to use 20% pure perfume.
The reason behind this is that we have no celebrity endorser, we don’t have anyone advertising our product on TV and we don’t have any sales assistance in the shops selling it either.

Giving the customer what they want

By cutting out the middleman in our manufacturing, we can provide the customer with a quality perfume or aftershave that will last around eight hours if the 20% perfume range is bought.

By purchasing the 30% pure perfume range, will mean that your fragrance will last even longer. A great choice for a longer- lasting scent.

Read here on the tips of how to get the best out of your fragrance.

    Celebrity fragrances- Paco Rabanne-1 Million

I mentioned about popular celebrity fragrances that are around at the moment.

Let’s take a look at Paco Rabanne1 million.

    Affordable perfumes that smell expensive
The Paco Rabanne scent is pure class. Distinguished, unique and popular with both men and women

A very popular scent for men that could set you back around £70 if you were to purchase from stores such as Superdrug.

Although you are likely to get a 100mil bottle for this price, it is an Eau de Toilette spray so will last around 4-6 hours.

The fragrance notes in this perfume consist of fresh grapefruit, mandarin and peppermint alongside rose absolute, cinnamon bark and mask. The base has an ultra masculine leather scent.

FM has a very similar scent to that of Paco Rabanne1 million which falls in the oriental notes family.

Compare the notes to FM199 PURE ROYAL ( our inspired fragrance) and you will see that they are very similar but not the same.

    Type: rich, multi-threaded Fragrance notes:

    Head: Italian mandarin, peppermint

    Heart: cinnamon, Turkish rose, cardamom

    Base: leather note

Saving you money on the things you love

For a 50m bottle, you will get 20% pure fragrance oil and an affordable price tag of just £27.50.

Another great fact with some of our fragrances is that other products in the same scent can be purchased too.

With FM 199 fragrance, we has a refreshing aftershave lotion and an aftershave balm to compliment their perfume.

When there is a scent that has similar notes to the designer scents at an affordable price, it’s no wonder that FM World is in its 13th year celebrating such mastery in the fragrance world.

You get to smell gorgeous, with a long-lasting scent that has similar notes to your favourite expensive brand and the best thing is that your friends won’t tell the difference.

What’s even more wonderful is that the company allow anyone over the age of sixteen to create a FREE account. A great opportunity to save on perfumes and aftershaves by buying at cost price. Sign up here for the UK.

Get in touch if you live in a different part of the world.

With so many top designer brands to choose from, we have an alternative.

Saving you money to spend on other things and the chance to make a switch to a different brand that allows the customer to buy their favourite perfume or aftershave.

    Celebrity skin care products

Just like celebrity endorsed perfumes, celebrity skin care products are also popular.

It’s a well-known fact that celebrities have been endorsing perfumes for several years now.

    Celebrity skin care products

As a nation, we are very much influenced by products that are available online and in the shops that have a celebrity backing to them.

It’s a way of giving us confidence in making such a purchase when we know that a well-known celebrity is behind the product.

    Supporting the influencers

Imagine this. Your friend that lives down the street from you starts to make a business creating soaps.

You are all for it in the beginning and supportive and perhaps they give you some of their products for free to try on yourself.

They start creating more products as their business starts to get a little busier and then they start trying to sell you the same product that you recently received for free.

We are all too familiar with the memes online that show a person such as your friend starting a new business or being successful in their interview and being offered the job.

    Celebrity sun care products

They announce it to all of their followers on Facebook and get 25 likes and 10 comments on their post.

As we scroll down our news feed, we then see a celebrity that has endorsed the latest fragrance.

Somehow they have received over 3000 likes and over 100 comments.

It is very much a case of those that have influenced us over a long period of time will always win the majority of votes.

Of course, we don’t know the celebrities personally yet we are willing to support them in new ventures.

We will happily pay more often than not, a high price for the latest perfume or cosmetic product.

More than we usually would for our usual and more affordable Rimmel or L’Oréal brands.

The power of the celebrity status

It may even be a product we don’t particularly want or need but because of the celebrity endorser behind it, this is enough to entice us to part with our money.

I very much doubt we will ever see a break in this cycle as long as there are celebrities to influence us.

Celebrities also know that there will be customers that they have influence over.

    Celebrity skin care products
Celebrities have a huge influence over their customers

So there is never any question about if their product will sell enough quantities of in order to keep it on the shelves.

Alongside endorsing perfumes and aftershaves, many celebrities also have their own skincare range.

We often look at celebrities, especially women, who seem to look perfect in every way. Gorgeous glowing skin and full of radiance. What’s their secret ?

We question what products they’re using in order for us to benefit in looking as radiant as they do.

    Celebrity skin care products

Many celebrities don’t actually look their age and perhaps this is not just part of the products they are using but the kind of lifestyle that they live too.

A healthy lifestyle also plays a part in our exterior

Personal trainers, healthier and more expensive food, no money worries and drinking tons of water. It all plays a part in how well we grow old and if we do grow old gracefully.

Just the same as fragrances, celebrities don’t always wear the product that they endorse. They simply like the scent or the way their skin feels by using certain products.

Like the public, celebrities are also influenced by the texture of a product, the smell and how it makes them feel when using it.

Added to the fact that the majority of the celebrities have a make up artist to assist when they appear on TV shows, concerts and TV adverts etc.

Let’s take a look at some of the skin care products that are used by celebrities.

    Jennifer Aniston

American actress, producer and spokesperson for Aveeno, a skin care company that work closely with skin conditions such as eczema, sensitive, dry and itchy skin and uses natural ingredients.
Jennifer drinks tons of water as part of her skin care. She has also benefited from good genes when it comes to no wrinkles as she has aged, from her father and grandmother.

Jennifer washes her face with Neutrogena facial cleansing bar and the Aveeno positively radiant daily moisturiser. She uses the Aveeno daily moisturising lotion which is hydrating for the skin.

    Charlize Theron

Being the face behind such an iconic perfume as J’adore, Charlize is no exception when it comes to beautiful glowing skin.
Interesting to also learn that she always wear a spritz of perfume before she leaves the house and her ‘slice of luxury’.
Charlize wears sunscreen protector and La Prairie Cellular Radience Emulsion which would set you back a few hundred dollars.
    Celebrity skin care products
Alongside eating a healthy diet, attending Pilates classes and having a morning and nightie routine, Charlize also uses a rejuvenating serum by Mila Moursi and a moisturizing cream by La Mer called Crème de la Mer.
Add in regular facials and you have yourself a beautiful glowing skin.

    Gwyneth Paltrow

The American actress and businesswoman is a lover of exfoliating every day and uses a product by Goop.

    Celebrity skin care products

Another product by the same brand is Goop Glow morning skin superpower which is a food supplement packed with vitamin C and antioxidants.

Another celebrity in favour of an oil based serum, Gwyneth uses Vintner’s Daughter which helps her dry skin and full of healing properties.

Sunscreen seems to be a popular product for many of the celebrities as Gwyneth uses one by Coola called Mineral Cucumber Face.

On the more affordable side is a product called Juice Beauty which is an instant eye lift algae mask.

    Selena Gomez

Starting her career at the tender age of just seven, Selena also sings and has her one line of make up called Rare Beauty which she gives one percent of the profit to mental health awareness to support a charity following her own struggles with mental health.

Moisturiser is definitely a top product when it comes to the celebrities skin care routine.

Selena uses a rich moisturiser called the Dewy Skin Cream by Tatcha. Due to its thick consistency, you don’t need to use much.

    Celebrity skin care products

Sometimes an overlooked factor when it comes to great skin and a great skincare routine is to remember to remove all traces of make up before going to bed.

Selena is one of those women who sticks by this routine because her skin can break out in spots easily.

Suffering from lupus, Selena knows the importance of keeping her skin looking fresh so she applies sunscreen every day.

For this, she uses the Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30.

    Celebrity skin care products

From her Rare Beauty range she also uses a set mist which is a 4-in-1 Prime & Set Mist, before applying foundation.

    Emma Watson

Another lady who has been in the spotlight since she was young and winning one of the leading roles in the Harry Potter films, Emma takes care of her skin too.

One of her go to products on a daily basis is a product called Cheek and Lip Stain by The Body Shop.

    Celebrity skin care products

As part of her routine she always washes her face at night and keep her routine with cleanse, tone and moisturise before going to bed.

Suffering with dry skin, Emma reaches out for a product called Evolue Firming Toner. It has minimal alcohol so it doesn’t make her face sting.

She also exfoliates once a week using an exfoliator by Evolue called Resurfacing Grains.

    Holly Willoughby

Holly is no stranger to the spotlight and always looks the part whether she is on TV or very natural looking on an Instagram post with her family.
One of her favourite products is a facial spray hitting the top of her list. The one she uses is called Beauty Elixir  By Caudalie.
    Celebrity skin care products
“It zings you” she said to ‘HELLO!’™️ magazine.
Holly has also been known to use Total Repair Cream by Kate Somerville for her Dancing On Ice shows.
    Celebrity skin care products

This anti-aging cream hydrates and deeply moisturises to give a firm and smooth texture to the skin, whilst diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

Another favourite product that Holly uses is the Eyebright™️ Soothing Eye Cleanser by Liz Earl.

Above all, eating well, keeping active, drinking lots of water and being content and happy are the top key priorities.
Good skin comes from within as well as in our genes. Products assist with the good that we already have so taking care of the inside will benefit and show on the outside.
  • Branding,  Celebrities,  Perfumes

    Celebrity endorsed perfumes

We see celebrity endorsed perfumes everywhere. Online and on the high street. So when did it all start?

Back in 1987, Elizabeth Taylor first started the trend when she herself launched her perfume called Passion.

The first celebrity to begin the endorsement trend

    Celebrity endorsed perfumes
Elizabeth Taylor’s signature fragrance White Diamonds

This wasn’t her first fragrance either. She created her signature fragrance called White Diamonds in 1991 but the success came with the release of Passion 3 years earlier and became one of the best -selling fragrances of all time.

Surprisingly, Passion isn’t expensive to purchase as you may think.

Take a look on ebay for Passion by Elizabeth Taylor

With such an iconic celebrity at the forefront of this trend, it wasn’t long before the likes of Paris Hilton, Jennifer Aniston and Beyoncé became just some celebrities who saw a market and a platform for following in her footsteps.

It’s a well-known fact that having a celebrity behind their own perfume is going to help massively with perfume sales.

Do men and women simply purchase a designer fragrance because of the name behind it?

Perhaps they did a few years ago but these days it’s not just the name behind the brand that matters. After all, there’s little point in purchasing a Beyoncé fragrance just because such a music icon is behind its creation.

We purchase perfumes for their fragrances notes and longevity too.

Women and men need to like the scent in order to wear it. It’s a waste of money if the bottle is going to sit in the wardrobe and never be worn.

It’s not just perfume either that celebrities have endorsements on.

Anything from clothing, jewellery and hand bags all have a touch of celebrity attached.

Items that are endorsed by famous people will sell much quicker too. It’s a very clever marketing strategy and one that has been around for many years.

    Celebrity endorsed products

When a celebrity endorses a product, this gives scope for the product to reach a larger audience and therefore making more sales.
When we see a perfume that has been endorsed by Beyoncé for example, it immediately gives the buyer confidence in their purchase as the person behind the brand is well-known.
Having such an iconic celebrity also makes the product more appealing.
Have you noticed how attractive the celebrities are who endorse products ? It makes it more enchanting.

    Buying a well-known perfume

Purchasing a perfume from a celebrity has a positive impact on the buyer and when they wear the fragrance created by their favourite singer/celebrity, it instantly gives confidence.
The consumer also feels more important because they are wearing such a fragrance.
Whenever we see a perfume being advertised on the TV, it will always have a famous face in the commercial.
  • Perfumes,  Shopping,  The cost of perfume

Buying cheap perfume will cost more

Buying cheap perfume will cost more in the long run so why do people opt for this as an alternative ?

Whenever we hear the word designer, we instantly think of expensive brands, celebrities and quality products.

Whether it’s a clothing range, cosmetics, shoes or perfume.

We do get what we pay for although many would agree that some designer  brands are overpriced.

Customers can be left feeling ripped off when they see a huge price tag that perhaps doesn’t justify the item being purchased.

We’ve all been there. A spot of retail therapy works wonders to lift the mood but at what cost ?

Men and women love to shop, especially if they know what they are intending to buy. Whilst women are more prone to window-shopping more than men, buying something new really can lift the mood.

Some may say buying impulsively can have the opposite effect and leave you with the panic of overspending and falling into the dept hole. Especially if one’s purchase is on the more expensive side.

Buying cheap perfume will cost more
No one wants to see their money wasted

It’s important to balance the two.

    Affiliate disclosure

This page contains affiliate links. Should you click on a link and make a purchase, I may receive compensation.

Personally, I’m not a big lover of shopping, aimlessly walking around the shops in the hope that something will catch my eye.

I prefer a more purposeful visit, with the intention of knowing exactly what I am shopping for.

My sister and late mother on the other hand would shop till they dropped!

We all have the idea of shopping and saving at the same time, so it’s very much done with the intention of buying more for our money. That makes sense.

    Looking for cheaper options

There will be certain products on the market that this will work in our favour.

Clothes for instance, can be bought much cheaper and some will still last just as long and come out of the wash the same size as they went in!

What about products such as cosmetics ?

These too can be bought cheaper but if you are prone to sensitive skin, purchasing a more expensive brand will always be the better option to avoid skin allergies.

When it comes to perfumes, we all know the price we pay to have a designer bottle of Chanel in our possession.

    An iconic perfume

Chanel perfume was also the most popular and highest ranked brand for women in the UK in 2020, with an estimated 4.9million women enjoying its unique fragrance. That’s a huge amount of sales for just one designer bottle.

Buying cheap perfume will cost more
The iconic bottle and fragrance of Chanel. A fragrance owned by many women around the world

So what about when shops sell copies of the designer perfumes at a fraction of the price?

We already know that we can buy the real thing at the Duty Free and they will often be a little cheaper.

A cheeky purchase for the up coming holiday that we all look forward to having. Almost obligatory to visit one too, before boarding the plane.

Some wait until this time to purchase their favourite or ask their family member/friend to pick one up on their way through or on the plane because the price is a little lower.

    Copies of our favourite perfumes

Recently, Poundland have released a selection of fragrances, all in the same packaging and bottles as the designer brands, but with a huge difference.

    The price tag.

Buying cheap perfume will cost more
Savings on perfume isn’t always the best option

For as little as £1, customers can purchase a copy of their favourite bottle but at what cost ?

We’re all bargain hunters inside. Even those who can afford the real thing more than some. Everyone loves a saving. It leaves more money and opportunity to spend the rest on something else.

A walk into Poundland is everyone’s idea of the perfect shop.

A shop that everyone loves for the fact that they can purchase household products, cosmetics, birthday cards and food for a bargain price.

Carry on walking through and we now see a display of designer fragrances from such names as Chanel, Creed, Carolina Herrera and Paco Rabanne. Or are they ?

We all know that Poundland is just that, a pound shop. A place that almost seems too good to be true when we can purchase hand wash or toothpaste for just £1.

Some would argue that such items can be bought cheaper from the big stores such as Asda and Sainsbury’s. Indeed, they can so it’s important to be savvy when we shop.

So what about buying your favourite perfume for £1? A fragrance such as Paco Rabanne’s Lady Million, would leave your purse short of around £83 for the real thing. Can it really be bought for £1 instead?

Of course, we all love to save money but at what cost?

    Perfume and beauty resources

Buying cheap perfume will cost more

On the first initial spray we are surprised by the similarity in fragrance notes but the real key is how long will the scent last?

Lady Million is a very popular fragrance and the third most favourite scent for women.

Containing notes of Raspberry, Jasmine, Patchouli and Amber to name a few, this perfume scent is instantly noticed with its first spray.

The packaging alone suggests that this isn’t the real deal. Poundland cleverly use slightly different names for their duped fragrances. This allows them to sell a product that has similar scents to the real perfumes.

Trying to sell a fake product off as the real thing is counterfeit.

So Lady Million is labeled as Queen in Million and although the design of bottles may be similar, companies do change their bottles so they are not identical to the real item.

    A clever marketing strategy

We already know that purchasing a bottle for £1 won’t give us a designer brand in our shopping basket.

Buying cheap perfume will cost more

Many will be on a shopping budget so buying such an affordable fragrance will seem very appealing.

    What about the longevity though?

Whilst it’s a great purchase to buy a similar bottle to one of our favourites at a fraction of the cost, is it really worth it ?

    Cheaper alternatives

A spray of a cheaper alternative will save money for other things for sure but at what cost ?

Imagine you have picked up a dupe bottle of Black Opium by Yves St Laurent which is named as Black Dust in Poundland.

A great bottle and packaging and definitely inspired by the real designer perfume, it doesn’t look out of place on the shelf.

A pleasant smell, just like Black Opium, with a sweet scent but instantly too overpowering with its sweetness.

The depth that Black Opium carries wasn’t a match though for this alternative.

When we use perfume, we apply in the morning, preferably on clean, moisturized skin so that we get the most out of the fragrance.

Purchasing a Poundland alternative will leave you using it a more of a body spray as the initial first spray was gone within minutes. No one wants to keep reapplying their scent throughout the day just to make it last.

Speaking of making a perfume last, this bottle really won’t last very long if it’s constantly needs reapplying throughout the day.

The chances of anyone around you noticing the whiff of scent will be very slim too unless they are standing right beside you when you spray.

So the £1 bottle of fragrance that initially saved you a fair amount of money, will eventually cost you more. You will constantly be spending money on replacing the bottle that’s only lasted a week!

Purchasing for the younger generation would be the only reason to buy a £1 fragrance. They don’t need overpowering scents to make an impression and will still feel like they are a part of the grown up world with a bottle of designer spritz.

If buying a dupe bottle seems to be the only option to owning a scent that’s similar to your favourite designer perfume, there is another option.

At FM World, we sell designer inspired fragrances.

    Top ten perfumes

What are the top ten perfumes for women?

Well, without a doubt, the number one perfume has to be one of Chanel’s.

Chanel no.5 was created back in the 1920s. Although she has created others since then and Coco Mademoiselle seems to have become a favourite for many.

A unique fragrance with its fruity, oriental and woody notes.

What defies a perfume to be in the top ten ?

Perhaps it’s the fancy designer bottle.

There are many bottles on the market today that have a unique style to them. Some are more extravagant than others.

Some come in very fancy bottles which look lovely when they’re sitting on your bedside table, but are not the most practical when you wish to pop it in your handbag for a night out.

Interestingly, the men’s designer bottles are never as fancy as the ladies. Perhaps one designed with a male torso.

Surely as well, having such a design on a perfume bottle would make it heavier?

Women have enough things to carry in their handbag; cosmetics, hairbrush, phone, keys etc without the added weight of a fancy perfume bottle, as beautiful as they are.

One would think that to be in the top 10 perfumes it would be because of how many bottles they’ve sold compared to other brands over the year.
Statistics surely must play a part.
The more quantities of an individual product that is sold, the more popular it is.
Then we could look at advertising. If a product is being advertised more than another product, that could enhance its popularity and therefore increase sales.
Especially around Christmas, when there will be certain celebrities that will adorn our TV sets, branding the latest fragrance that they themselves have endorsed.
With such a large selection of designer fragrances on the market, it would be near on impossible to advertise every single one of them, so how do they choose which ones to advertise?
  • Branding,  Perfumes

    Name brand perfumes

When it comes to name brand perfumes, why are they so expensive?

Why do we pay so much money ?

I  remember having a nose in my mums make up bag  when I was younger and there was often a Chanel or Elizabeth Arden lipstick or a L’Oreal mascara.

Of course, when I was young I knew no different with regards to expensive brands.

To me, it was just a lipstick, or mascara.

Why was there such a big price tag?

I was completely unaware of how pricing worked as a youngster.

It’s not until you look into it deeper, that we learn how prices vary so much depending where you purchase from.

The price of name brand perfume

We all see ‘expensive’ in different ways.

Some might say that a product is expensive because they can’t afford to buy it, whilst others see it as ‘not worth the price tag’.

So what makes brands expensive ?

Whilst one product alone may not break the bank, having several high end items in your make up collection will soon add up.

We all know just how much money women alone can spend.

Luxury perfume and make up are two of the top products that women buy.

When it comes to perfume, a very small percentage is the actual cost of the smell.

The majority of what we are paying for is the cost of the packaging, marketing and advertising of the product.

After all, if the perfume isn’t advertised then no one will actually know about it to purchase in the first place.

Women will often purchase known brands, therefore they are paying not just for the product, but the marketing, the brand name and prestige that comes with such names.

     The power of branding

Just like a bottle of Chanel perfume, no one sees your lipstick container or it’s brand name. It sits in your handbag until used.

At FM we sell less expensive make up, just like our fragrances and just like the designers, we never compromise on the quality either.

We don’t need to advertise on tv.

There are millions of distributors around the world, like myself.

We speak to friends/family and work colleagues about our fragrances and the fact that we can save customers money by buying an alternative bottle.
