The World’s Most Expensive Perfume
It’s well-known that designer fragrances can be costly, so what about the world’s most expensive perfume? The creator of such a perfume is Clive Christian—a fragrance house developing the world’s finest fragrances and perfumes since 1872.
Studying his signature bottle alone, this one was created more for collectors than for its content and was designed to celebrate the opening of its latest boutique in London.
Clive Christian has a vision for exquisite and unique taste and doesn’t see perfume as just a fragrance in a bottle. It goes way deeper than that.

Signature bottle
Clive Christian developed a beautiful bottle from his signature fragrance ( no 1 Passant Guardant) and decorated it with 24-carat gold lattice-work, with over 2000 individually set white diamonds.
With a flawless finish, two yellow diamonds set an eye for the magnificent lion and a rare pink diamond embedded and used for the lion’s tongue; this signature bottle is an actual work of art.

At $175,000 per ounce, it is the second most expensive perfume in the world. So why does this perfume house stand out from the rest?
It’s clear that with such an exquisite bottle, there will surely be a stunning perfume. The number one Passant Guardant bottle has become officially recognised as the world’s most expensive perfume.
Every bottle in the collection has a distinctive crown symbol for the perfume cap. Queen Victoria first granted this right in 1872. Impressive stuff!
There isn’t anything like Clive Christian’s creations on the market today, and certainly no attempts to copy his brand. We’re often swayed to purchase a designer bottle because of its beautiful design and fragrance.
We already know that fragrances adapt to the wearer’s skin, but Clive Christian’s fragrances create a unique scent for everyone. A smell that develops gradually over hours sets the standard high for the perfect fragrance.
His perfumes are designed using possibly the costliest ingredients and the finest available. Unlike traditional designer fragrances, which more often than not contain 16% perfume oil, here we use 20-25% perfume oil. This ensures a longer-lasting fragrance.
It’s very clever, too, that Clive Christian has created a collection with the letters of their name engraved on each bottle for a more distinctive appearance.
With such unique bottles, each adorning the crown cap, this design has an element of taste and elegance that leaves us in awe that such beauty has been created.
Let’s examine what makes each of these fragrances stand out.
The C.L.I.V.E collection
C, for CREATIVITY,
L, for LUXURY,
I, for INGENUITY,
V, for VIVACITY,
E, for EXCELLENCE
So, what kind of fragrance will we find within each of these unique bottles? For starters, each perfume costs £310.00 when purchased directly.
Creativity – C WOODY LEATHER
Woody fragrances are much-loved by many, and this one is no exception. Often the perfect fragrance to wear during the autumn and winter months, it oozes smokiness with its well-thought-out notes of saffron and tobacco. The added scent of mandarin gives this fragrance a balance of freshness while the skin is embraced with amber and oud.
LUXURY – L FLORAL CHYPRE
With a bottle that stands for luxury, we surely wouldn’t expect anything less with this fragrance. Luxury certainly does ooze perfection when it comes to this scent.
The respect and admiration inside this bottle capture pure elegance with its combination of rose and jasmine. When a perfume also contains dry orris, you know the price tag for this ingredient alone will be heart-stopping and expensive.
Orris is left for a minimum of three years before it can be used, as at first it is odourless. For the scent to develop, it is stored in jute bags. Natural fibre bags are made from plants and are spun to create a course and strong threads.
Added notes of frankincense, musk, honey and vanilla give this fragrance a sophisticated and classic aroma to make it the highest level of luxury.INGENUITY – I WOODY FLORAL
Combining floral and woody fragrance notes gives this perfume unique creativity with a hint of nature and the great outdoors. Top notes of mandarin from the citrus family, red fruits, and spices give this woody fragrance a superb kick of strong wood and floral scents.
Topped with a base of patchouli, jasmine, and a touch of oud, this is the perfect scent for those who love solid floral fragrances. That’s me sold!
VIVACITY – V AMBER FOUGERE
With amber fougre notes from the Asian family and added vetiver, an essential oil obtained from the root of Indian grass, the perfume is of stunning quality.
The peppers were added to give a great contrast to its amber base. This refreshing and lively fragrance dances on the skin. A smoky feel brings the notes to life.
EXCELLENCE – E GOURMANDE ORIENTAL
If you love sweet fragrances, this unique bottle fits the bill. With top notes of peach and fruity rum, the extraordinary scent in this bottle will capture the hearts of those who prefer sweet perfumes. Also, the heart of this fragrance, which contains cinnamon, cloves, and labdanum, gives it an elegant aroma with its exceptional ingredients.
The creation of the most expensive perfumes in the world
Clive Christian uses the rarest and most natural ingredients when creating its perfumes. The journey starts with pure expertise and exceptional international training from a selection of perfumers based in Britain. All of their perfumes are created here, too. It is incredible to learn that each perfume contains between 100 and 300 different ingredients!
Sourcing rare and exotic ingredients makes them unique. The finest ingredients have to be grown in perfect condition. Using so many ingredients makes Clive Christian’s perfumes even more unique. Each one goes on its journey before it can be sold, and sometimes, this can take several years.

Clive Christian’s ‘No 1 Imperial Majesty’What’s even more incredible is that their perfumes are created with such technology that every wearer will have 8 hours of fragrance that pops through the skin throughout the day, giving the wearer a selection of different notes to enjoy.
None of the usual re-applying during your lunch break! It is a decisive breakthrough in the art of fragrances, and every sprayed drop has been created with pure complexity.
Of course, there will be a certain kind of market and person who could afford such elegance in a bottle and spending such a large amount does have its limits when looking to own one. Like everything else, there is a place for expensive clothing, exquisite food and jaw-dropping perfume.
One will undoubtedly be remembered for the unique scent that’s left behind. Just like the fragrances you currently use, it’s even more important that you follow the tips when applying your perfume to get the most out of your scent.
Pure perfume at its finest
Alongside creating unique and beautiful perfumes, Clive Christian has created The Absolute range, which is made to order and contains 100% perfume oil! Wow! Moreover, one of these bottles will set you back £3,500!!
It would be the chosen few who would buy such a perfume, but it would be wonderful to have one made to order and containing pure oil. A bottle would be kept for prosperity after the perfume has been used.
A perfume containing such a high amount of oil will give you around 12 hours of pure perfume fragrance. One spray will surely be enough of one of these stunning bottles for its concentration alone. With over 200 of its finest ingredients, it’s no surprise that these perfumes are hugely expensive.

Buying Cheap Perfume Will Cost More
Buying cheap perfume will cost more in the long run, so why do people opt for this as an alternative? Whenever we hear the word designer, we instantly think of expensive brands, celebrities, and quality products, whether it’s a clothing range, cosmetics, shoes, or perfume.
We do get what we pay for, although many would agree that some designer brands are overpriced. Customers can feel ripped off when they see a huge price tag that perhaps doesn’t justify the item being purchased.
We’ve all been there. A spot of retail therapy can lift the mood, but at what cost?
Men and women love to shop, especially if they know what they intend to buy. While women are more prone to window shopping than men, buying something new can lift the mood.
Some may say buying impulsively can have the opposite effect, leaving you with the panic of overspending and falling into a debt hole, especially if your purchase is on the more expensive side. It’s important to balance the two.
No one wants to see their money wasted. Affiliate Disclosure

I’m not a big fan of shopping, aimlessly walking around the shops hoping that something will catch my eye. I prefer a more purposeful visit so that I know exactly what I am shopping for.
On the other hand, my sister and late mother would shop till they dropped! We all have the idea of shopping and saving simultaneously, so it’s very much done to buy more for our money. That makes sense.
Looking for cheaper options
There will be products on the market that will work in our favour. Clothes, for instance, can be bought much cheaper, and some will still last just as long and come out of the wash the same size as they went in!
What about products such as cosmetics? These, too, can be bought cheaper, but if you are prone to sensitive skin, purchasing a more expensive brand will always be the better option to avoid skin allergies. When it comes to perfumes, we all know the price we pay to own a designer bottle of Chanel.
An iconic perfume
Chanel perfume was also the most popular and highest-ranked brand for women in the UK in 2020, with an estimated 4.9million women enjoying its unique fragrance. That’s a massive amount of sales for just one designer bottle.
The iconic bottle and fragrance of Chanel. A fragrance owned by many women around the world So what about when shops sell copies of designer perfumes at a fraction of the price? We already know that we can buy the real thing at Duty-Free, and they will often be a little cheaper.
It is a cheeky purchase for the upcoming holiday that we all look forward to having. It is almost obligatory to visit one before boarding the plane.
Some wait until this time to purchase their favourite or ask a family member or friend to pick one up on their way through or on the plane because the price is a little lower.
Copies of our favourite perfumes
Recently, Poundland has released a selection of fragrances, all in the same packaging and bottles as the designer brands, but with a huge difference—the price tag.
Savings on perfume isn’t always the best option. For as little as £1, customers can purchase a copy of their favourite bottle, but at what cost? We’re all bargain hunters inside, even those who can afford the real thing more than some. Everyone loves a saving. It leaves more money and opportunity to spend the rest on something else.
A walk into Poundland is everyone’s idea of the perfect shop. It is a shop everyone loves because it offers bargain prices on household products, cosmetics, birthday cards, and food. While walking through, we see a display of designer fragrances from Chanel, Creed, Carolina Herrera, and Paco Rabanne. Or are they?
We all know that Poundland is just that, a pound shop. It is a place that almost seems too good to be true when we can purchase hand wash or toothpaste for just £1. Some would argue that such items can be bought cheaper from the big stores such as Asda and Sainsbury’s. Indeed, they can, so it’s essential to be savvy when we shop.
So what about buying your favourite perfume for £1? A fragrance such as Paco Rabanne’s Lady Million would leave your purse short of around £83 for the real thing. Can it be bought for £1 instead?
Of course, we all love to save money, but at what cost?
Buying cheap perfume will cost more
On the first initial spray, we are surprised by the similarity in fragrance notes, but the real key is how long the scent will last.
Lady Million is a trendy fragrance and the third most favourite scent for women.
This perfume’s scent is instantly noticed with its first spray. It contains notes of raspberry, jasmine, patchouli, and amber.
The packaging alone suggests that this isn’t the real deal. Poundland cleverly uses slightly different names for its duped fragrances, which allows it to sell a product with similar scents to real perfumes. Trying to sell a fake product off as the real thing is counterfeit.
So Lady Million is labelled as Queen in Million. Although the design of the bottles may be similar, companies change their bottles so they are not identical to the real item.
A clever marketing strategy
We know purchasing a bottle for £1 won’t give us a designer brand in our shopping basket.
Many will be on a shopping budget, so buying such an affordable fragrance will be appealing. What about the longevity, though? Whilst it’s a great purchase to buy a similar bottle to one of our favourites at a fraction of the cost, is it worth it?
Cheaper alternatives
A spray of a cheaper alternative will definitely save money for other things, but at what cost? Imagine you have picked up a dupe bottle of Black Opium by Yves St Laurent, which is named Black Dust in Poundland.
A great bottle and packaging inspired by authentic designer perfume, it doesn’t look out of place on the shelf.
It had a pleasant smell, just like Black Opium, with a sweet scent but instantly too overpowering with sweetness. The depth that Black Opium carries wasn’t a match though for this alternative.
When we use perfume, we apply it in the morning, preferably on clean, moisturized skin, to get the most out of the fragrance.
Purchasing a Poundland alternative will leave you using it more as a body spray, as the initial spray is gone within minutes. No one wants to keep reapplying their scent throughout the day to make it last.
Speaking of making perfume last, this bottle will not last very long if it constantly needs to be reapplied throughout the day.
The chances of anyone around you noticing the whiff of scent will be very slim, too, unless they are standing beside you when you spray.
So the £1 bottle of fragrance that initially saved you a fair amount of money will eventually cost you more. You will constantly be spending money on replacing the bottle that’s only lasted a week!
Purchasing for the younger generation would be the only reason to buy a £1 fragrance. They don’t need overpowering scents to make an impression and will still feel like they are a part of the grown-up world with a bottle of designer spritz.
If buying a dupe bottle seems to be the only option for owning a scent similar to your favourite designer perfume, there is another option.
At FM World, we sell designer-inspired fragrances.

Spring Fragrances
As the winter months fade, we look forward to warmer weather and Spring fragrances. Are you a seasonal perfume wearer? Perfume comprises many different fragrance notes, some more suitable than others for different seasons.
We have covered winter perfumes, so what about scents for the spring? Fragrances have different strengths and fragrance notes.
During the daytime, when you’re meeting someone for lunch or it’s a working day in the office, a perfume or an eau de toilette is more suitable. They’re not too heavy or overpowering for those around you.
We’ve all experienced the strong whiff of a fragrance as someone walks past and leaves a lingering scent long after that person leaves the room.
For an evening out, such as a date night, it gives us the perfect excuse to wear a perfume with the highest oil concentration. It contains more perfume oil, lasts longer and has a more pungent scent. What better way to make a great impression? Changing your perfume scents to match accordingly is a good idea when the seasons transition from the cooler months through winter to the summer months.

Seasonal perfumes
Wintertime sees perfumes with heavier notes, such as wood, ambergris and spices, for sale in the shops and online. During the warmer months, we see perfumes with lighter floral notes, such as lemon, citrus, and lavender. As previously discussed, it works the same way with clothes for the different seasons. When we think of lighter clothes for the summer and thicker, warmer clothes for the winter, it is the same principle regarding fragrances.
As we see a shift to Spring weather, it’s a good idea to start wearing a lighter scent.
We should never shy away from wearing a fragrance if we choose to. After all, perfume is an extension of our personality.
Just remember that lighter and more delicate notes will be more suitable as the weather starts to warm up. Heat intensifies a fragrance, so it is best to wear a lighter that isn’t overpowering but stays fresh and subtle throughout the day.
As we have already discussed on signature fragrances, if you prefer to stick to one perfume throughout the year, try to choose a perfume with a mixture of cool and warm fragrance notes for the perfect scent, as this will ensure that your signature fragrance suits all weather and situations.
Changing your perfume to match the seasons can be tricky, mainly if you are used to wearing one particular scent. As the weather warms up, it is best not to spray our perfume too much or, better still, find a body spray with a matching scent.
At FM WORLD, we sell body sprays to match a selection of our female fragrances. This gives you the ideal opportunity to layer your fragrance or use a body mist alone, a lovely product to use during scorching weather.
Many still like to wear fragrance, so a body mist or lotion works well when it’s hot. However, we don’t want to compete with the weather and our fragrance.
The great thing about perfumes for men and women is that they come in different strengths. This is reflected not only in the price but also in how light or heavy the scent is once it’s on our skin.
It’s not just women who need to adjust their scents to the changes in the seasons. Men do, too. Even male fragrances can be overpowering and too strong for specific occasions and seasons.
Spring fragrances
Whenever we think of spring, we think of flowers in the garden, butterflies and freshly cut grass.
It’s a chance to get out into the garden, wear a different clothes wardrobe, and ditch the winter jackets. Combining that with fragrance notes makes us think of sweet, floral, citrus, rose, and fruity scents. So, what fragrances are out there that we can wear during the spring and ones that will complement the warmer weather?

Five popular Spring fragrances for men
- Hugo- Hugo Boss
This little gem was first created in 1995. Its combination of apple, citrus, floral, spicy, and cinnamon notes makes it a hugely popular scent for both men and women.
- Aqua Pour Homme- Bvlgari
Another popular fragrance with its Mandarin Orange, Seawood, Lavender, Patchouli, Amber and Petitgrain notes. An aromatic fragrance to give a refreshing and energetic scent.
- Savage-Dior
Not many men have tried this fragrance before. Part of the Fougere family and launched in 2015, this neat bottle contains notes of Amber, Citrus, Aromatic, Lavender, Musk, and wood.
- Pour Homme- Versace
This fragrance has distinctive notes of Grapefruit, fig leaves, aquatic notes, Black Pepper and Musk.
- Polo Blue Sport- Ralph Lauren
The fragrance notes in this famous bottle give a sense of spring and delicacy simultaneously.
Picture a bottle and a whiff of mint, green apple, Mandarin orange, cider, ginger, musk, sandalwood, and patchouli, and you will have yourself a desirable man’s fragrance.
Spring has its fair share of fragrance notes, so remember that floral fragrances can be hit or miss. Some fragrances, especially vanilla, are influential and sickly with sweet notes; therefore, many people will avoid them.
If fruit fragrances appeal to you, find the right balance. Remember to spray or splash a floral-based perfume or aftershave sparingly. If you overdo it, the fragrance notes can be intense for yourself and those around you.

Signature Fragrances
A signature fragrance is a scent that someone always wears—the smell you instantly recognise and belongs to a particular person. While many of us prefer to wear different perfumes for different occasions, others will wear the same fragrance all the time, known as their signature scent.
Affiliate Disclosure
This page contains affiliate links. Should you click on a link and make a purchase, I may receive compensation.
If you have a friend who wears the same perfume every day, you start to recognise this, and as soon as you have a hint of that particular fragrance, it reminds you of it.
It can be nice to have one particular fragrance you wear, especially if it’s your absolute favourite, but having a more extensive perfume collection for different occasions does work best in the long run. Depending on the fragrance notes, a signature scent may be perfect for the daytime but unsuitable for an evening out.
Recognised by Routine: The Everyday Uniform
It’s like wearing the same clothes daily—there’s no sense of uniqueness or individuality, and people start to recognise you solely by what you wear. In the small village in Bedfordshire where I live, a few of us go for a daily walk. Some are instantly recognisable because they wear the same outfit whenever they go out.
Like many others, I like to wear a different outfit. The same principle applies to wearing perfumes. Because of their fragrance notes, winter perfumes can be far too heavy to wear during the summer. Winter scents usually have heavier notes, such as:
- Oriental
- Spicy
- Woody
- Ambergris
Strong winter scents can be over-powering for a signature scent Summer notes are more delicate, such as :
- Floral
- Citrus
- Vanilla
- Lavender
- Fruit
Choosing delicate floral scents works well. The Seasonal Shift: Why Fragrance Variety Matters
Wearing the same fragrance daily can feel monotonous, not just for you but also for those around you, much like repeatedly wearing the same outfit. A light summer fragrance can lose its impact in the winter, while a heavy winter scent can feel overwhelming in the summer—like wearing summer clothes in cold weather or bundling up in winter attire during the heat. We wouldn’t do that. However, for some, sticking to one perfume is simply more practical, especially given the high cost of designer fragrances.
Designer fragrances can be costly if you want to own more than one bottle. Some may not be able to afford more than one bottle, but if you pick the right scent, depending on its fragrance notes, it can be worn every day. Every occasion needs a unique scent, so it is good to have a few different perfumes to fit those occasions.
FM World has unique scents that allow you to own more than one fragrance at an affordable cost. Please look at our online shop, which offers a selection of fragrances.
Sometimes, we like to wear a lighter perfume for the daytime, something that’s not too overpowering, such as when working in an office. Other occasions to wear a light signature perfume would be attending a funeral or a wedding.
Thinking about our surroundings and who we will be sitting with can influence the perfume we spray. Imagine sitting in the cinema, at a work conference, or inside a church, and you have the most robust fragrance out of everyone.
Not only will you smell the scent yourself, but those around you will be impacted, too. It’s very off-putting and can cause the other person to cough if the scent is too strong.
Not everyone wants to smell somebody else’s fragrance. A delicate, light, floral scent is harmless if it doesn’t over-power and disappears shortly after the first sniff. Having a smell that lingers for a few hours is not good. This can also happen if you spray too much. Less is more in the perfume and cosmetics world. Please read our article about using perfume correctly.
The Power of Variety: How Changing Your Fragrance Draws Attention
Another advantage of wearing a different fragrance is that people are likelier to notice and appreciate your scent because it’s not the same as the one you wore yesterday. Everyone loves receiving compliments; switching up your perfume can make you stand out.
Comments like, “I love your perfume; what are you wearing?” can lead to recommendations, whether it’s about a fragrance, a movie, or a restaurant. Working in the perfume industry allows me to experiment with different scents. When someone notices something unique, I can easily share which fragrance I wear and offer recommendations.
Choosing the Perfect Signature Scent: Subtlety and Sentiment
If you prefer to stick with a signature perfume, make sure it’s a subtle, delicate scent. This is the fragrance that others will associate with you, so it’s important not to choose one that’s too overpowering. It can have the opposite effect and even drive people away! The perfume industry is vast for a reason—we all love to smell great, so why not embrace it?
Some people stick to one fragrance because it holds sentimental value, reminding them of cherished memories, like wearing a particular scent on their wedding day. Unlike celebrities, who often develop their signature fragrances, you don’t need to go that far. Find a scent suitable for most seasons—something light and delicate that won’t overwhelm—and you’ll have the perfect everyday perfume.
What type of scent should you wear?
Matching a fragrance to your personality is essential when choosing a signature scent. If you spend much time outdoors, you may want more woody, musk, or spicy notes.
Romantic perfume notes will turn heads. Please read our article on perfume sillage and find out what the perfect scent should be like.
Above all, your signature fragrance should be flattering, not overpowering and make people remember you and think of you in the best possible way.

How Is Perfume Made?
Millions of us, both men and women and even children, love to wear perfume, but how is perfume made? Whether for a night out, just to wear when meeting a friend for coffee, or a day in the office, perfumes are a hugely popular product and have been around for thousands of years.
Cleopatra was a well-known perfume wearer from ancient history Wearing perfume can have many benefits, such as lifting our mood, complimenting an outfit, or grabbing the attention of the secret admirer. It’s become part of our everyday wear, and we have lots to choose from with so many on the market today.
We have already covered how to store perfume correctly and how to use perfume to get the most out of your scent, but what about where perfume comes from?
The history of perfume dates back to ancient times, as far back as 3,000 BC. The Greeks first created perfumes in the same way they are created today.
The creation of perfume
Many raw materials are required before the manufacturing process starts. Ingredients such as spices, leaves, fruits, resins, and flowers are all used during the first stages of creating a perfume.
Spices Leaves Fruits Resins It will be challenging to create a perfume without floral essences without adding flowers. Most perfumes are based around floral scents, which are essential ingredients. When we think of fragrances like Chanel, we think of their perfumes made from their flower fields.
This is to ensure they have enough product to create their perfumes. Chanel is the largest fashion brand in the world, and Chanel No. 5 is an iconic perfume.
Animal products, such as musk and ambergris, can also be present in perfumes. Musk is very commonly used as a base note in perfumes, and it is secreted from animals such as the musk deer.
The musk deer The sperm whale Incredibly, ambergris is produced in the digestive system of sperm whales, which means that whale poo is used in perfumes. The smell matures, and as it ages, it develops into a beautiful scent that, once diluted with alcohol, is used in perfumery.
It’s not always easy to obtain perfume scents from nature, so synthetic chemicals are sometimes used instead.
Nowadays, we have a world of cruelty-free perfumes, so using synthetic chemicals can save the lives of animals that are killed for the oils used to make perfumes. Many perfume companies, such as FM WORLD, are cruelty-free.
How the oil is extracted for making perfume
Oil is first extracted from flowers and plant material to create fragrances. One way to extract oil from plants is by expression. The plants are squeezed until the oil is released, like squeezing the juice out of an orange or a lemon. Another method for boiling plant parts is to steam the plants to extract the oils. This process is known as steam distillation.
Another method involves dissolving plant parts in benzene and then exposing them to ethyl alcohol. The alcohol is then burned off so that the perfume oil remains and can be used.
Are you curious as to why perfume is so expensive?
When oil from around 660 roses is taken to create a 15ml bottle of French perfume, it’s no surprise why fragrances cost a lot of money.
Along with the celebrity endorsers, fancy packaging and sales assistance, it’s easy to see how a small bottle of perfume can end up with a hefty price tag.

How the experts create a perfume scent
It’s not a quick process when it comes to creating perfumes. It can take many years, and many ingredients before the experts reach the desired scent and formula. Of course, the result is a genuine perfume that we can wear for around two years and be complimented by others.
The experts must take time, extensive testing, and mixing to create the perfect scent.
Once the formula is created, the extracted oils are blended. When the experts have reached their desired scent, they mix alcohol to dilute the ingredients.
The stronger the perfume, the more alcohol is added to the mixture. Cologne, for example, contains the most alcohol.
When you purchase an eau de toilette, it will contain less alcohol than cologne. If you are buying a perfume, it will have the least amount of alcohol and, therefore, the most potent scent.
Perfume contains around 40% of essential oils, and cologne contains around 10%.

What happens after the oil and scents have been added
Once the oils have been extracted from the plants and blended in with alcohol, the mixture is ready for ageing. The perfume is set in a dark, cool room to do this. It will then stay there for several months without being disturbed or touched.
Whilst the perfume has been left, this will help to bind the oils and the alcohol together. Quite commonly, the smell will be more pungent after the ageing process. Adjustments to the blending can take place at this time.
When you see a bottle of perfume in a department store, getting there has been a long process. It will have been thoroughly tested to ensure the scent is perfect and how it should be before it is allowed to go on sale to the public.
So the next time you purchase a bottle of your favourite perfume, remember just how long it’s taken to get onto the shelves and in your possession.

Where To Buy Cologne Online
Men rarely shop for fragrances, so I will show you where to buy cologne online. Purchasing fragrances is very much a female thing. Men wait and see what they have purchased as a gift rather than going into the shops to look for themselves. Women enjoy browsing the stores and online. It’s like retail therapy.
Versace Jaguar Boss Even when women don’t purchase anything, going out and mingling is just as enjoyable.
Men and shopping
For men, shopping is often a quick dash into their chosen shop, and if they are looking online, the last thing they’re looking at is cologne. Show them a website with work tools, golf gear, or anything related to football, and they’ll certainly be interested. Of course, there will be some men who never wear cologne or aftershave.

During the pandemic in 2020, and experiencing so many lockdowns, many males have been working from home with their offices in the dining room or a spare bedroom.
The last thing they are looking for is a fragrance. Many didn’t bother wearing one as they weren’t visiting customers face to face or having meetings in the office. So what about the ones who do like to wear cologne?
Women will have a better idea of how and where to shop for fragrances and will review all the factors before purchasing.
Cost, fragrance notes and sustainability
Men have a narrower idea of things to look out for, so they often buy hastily. The trouble with buying fragrances quickly and in haste is that all can make mistakes.
It’s not all about the price tag.
Many people see an expensive price tag and automatically assume that they are going to get a good-quality fragrance. This isn’t necessarily the case. More affordable fragrances can often be of better quality and longer-lasting. Several companies out there have proved just that, one of them being FM Cosmetics.
As we have covered previously, fancy packaging, fancy fragrance design, and celebrity endorsers can link to an expensive price tag. All these factors add up and can cost you a fair amount.
Any Tom Ford fans, I’m sure, will have come across the range with their hefty price tags, especially when buying direct. It’s important not to shy away from the lower-priced fragrances simply because they are cheaper.
We already know that the first whiff of a fragrance is not the same as the notes we smell by the end of the day. Many people believe that the initial scent of a perfume will last throughout the day. It is essential to try fragrance samples first if you can.
Adding a scent to your skin and leaving it for a few hours will determine if the middle and base notes are as suitable as the top notes. This is a more suitable option than using fragrance strips, as all fragrances smell completely different once they are on the skin.
It’s a misconception that fragrances with floral notes are just for women. Many men’s aftershaves and colognes on the market have a floral scent, even though they are still considered masculine. Several are suitable for women even though they sit in a department store in the men’s fragrances section.
These days, we don’t need to be gender-conscious. Many men are very visual when buying a cologne. They’ll see a bottle that looks masculine, have a whiff of the spray in-store, and purchase without much hesitation.
They want to be in and out of the shop quickly. With the vast selection of scents available in shops and online today, men don’t want to hang about sniffing five or six individual sprays at the perfume counter. Two or three will suffice.
Typically, they will aim for a brand that they know, and once this is in sight, they can then try two or three from that range. Men will use several other products before they add any cologne: shower gels, hair gel, deodorant, and perhaps a body lotion. This mixture will impact the choice of fragrance, and not just for the men.
Ladies will also use shower gels, hairspray, hand creams, and deodorant. The good news is that some products on the market complement a fragrance. Matching deodorant, body sprays, and hand cream will ensure you smell one fragrance instead of a concoction of scents. So, let’s take a look at some stores online.
Where to buy cologne online
FM Cosmetics has a great range of fragrances for men. All of their Pure and Pure Royal collection contains 20% perfume. There is also an intense range that contains 30% perfume, so if you prefer a scent that is a bit more stable,

Using Perfume Correctly
If you’re a perfume wearer, are you using perfume correctly? It’s surprising how many people don’t know how—from spraying excessively in the wrong areas to rubbing a fragrance on the wrists. All of these can hurt your fragrance.
You’ve bought yourself an expensive bottle of designer fragrance. Firstly, do you save it for a special occasion or wear it for work? It’s cost you a lot of money, so let’s save it for the best. What happens when we save a fragrance for a special occasion?

Saving perfume for a special occasion
The problem with saving fragrances for special occasions is that they will eventually go off and develop a musty smell that no one wants to wear or smell. You’ve spent a fortune on your favourite, and now the pretty little bottle with a hefty price tag sits in the wardrobe, waiting to be used.
Some fragrances can be powerful and overpowering, so spraying excessively can make the fragrance heavier than it should be. Others around you can smell it for several hours; if it’s strong, you can still smell it.
If you can smell your perfume for hours afterwards, it can trigger a headache and mean you have the wrong scent on your skin. No perfume should give you a headache or linger for the whole day.
Strong perfume can be very off-putting to others and expensive. So, how do we find the right amount of perfume to use?
Using perfume correctly
We’ve all heard the saying less is more and it certainly comes into its own when we talk about cosmetics and perfume. Heavy make-up and over-spraying of perfume scents is enough to put many off—especially the opposite sex.
I remember my late Nan wearing a hefty fragrance. A little spray really would have been enough, as the perfume was very strong and not the cheapest, even back in her day. What’s also important is how and where we apply our fragrance. Specific points on the skin and body will affect scents differently.
Top 10 Tips on using perfume correctly
1. Applying perfume after taking a shower or a bath will help your perfume last longer
2. Moisturising your skin will make your perfume last longer.
You can even use a body lotion or cream with the same scent as your perfume for even better enhancement.
3. Perfume loves to sit on moisturised skin, so trying a little petroleum jelly on your pulse points before you spray your perfume will help with its longevity.
4. Many people insist on holding the bottle in front of them as if they are spraying an air freshener. When applying perfume, it’s essential to choose the right points, which are the pulse points.
These warm points will help your fragrance sit for longer on the skin.
Our next 4 points
5. It’s a well-known habit that most women will rub their wrists together after spraying their perfume. What happens when we do this?
Rubbing your wrists together breaks the top notes, and rubbing your wrists together will make them disappear faster, so it’s essential to dab your wrists together to protect the fragrance notes.
6. Hold your perfume bottle at a distance so that large drops of the perfume won’t land on your skin. 5 to 7 inches away is good.
7. Avoid spraying perfume onto your clothes as it will stain.
8. When we buy designer perfumes, we must display them on our bedside cabinets for everyone to see. No one sees the beautiful display of perfumes apart from yourself and the people you live with.
If your bedside cabinet is near the sunlight coming through the window, then your fragrance won’t last as long as the heat evaporates the scent. It’s essential to keep them inside a dark cupboard, somewhere dry and away from light, and keep them in their original box so the bottles don’t get damaged.
9. As we have already covered, avoid wearing too much perfume.
Your fragrance should attract those around you and not the other way around.
Remember, less is more.
If you wear the same fragrance every day, you may have gotten used to the scent and, therefore, not be as aware of how others will smell your fragrance.
Please read my previous post on sillage and try wearing a different perfume every day.
10. Always choose a perfume with lighter family fragrance notes for daytime wear and heavier notes for the evening.
Alternate options
Getting out of old habits can be challenging. Somehow, we seem programmed to buy expensive perfumes, use them heavily and sometimes wear the wrong fragrance for our skin.
Alternative fragrances by FM Nowadays, there are alternatives; by that, we don’t mean cheap. I don’t like using the word cheap because it always comes across as unfavourable. I want to say it is less expensive and kinder for the purse/wallet.
There are many fragrances out there that are lighter on the purse strings, go a lot further when used correctly, and are still enjoyable, subtle, and longer-lasting for any occasion.

The Cost Of Perfume
When designer fragrances are mentioned, perfume cost is often a talking point. Therefore, many of us focus on saving money. If we can find a suitable fragrance at a better price that suits our needs, we’re all for that. Working with a perfume company brings its fair share of questions.
One of the most frequently asked questions is what the difference is between designer fragrances and FM fragrances. Many have been sceptical over the years, especially when FM launched in the early days.
How can a perfume that smells almost identical to a designer one cost so much less? Here’s a breakdown of the difference and where your money goes when you purchase both.
Designer- the actual cost of perfume
When it comes to designer perfumes, we first think of fancy packaging. Some boxes are just as creative as the bottles, and it’s good practice to store them in the box away from direct sunlight. They will last longer when stored correctly.
One of the main features of designer perfumes is their stunning bottles. There are some gorgeous bottles in the stores, and this alone makes the product eye-catching for the customer. When a product stands out, we are more likely to purchase it.
One of the most distinctive bottles is Angel by Thierry Muglar. With the unique shape of a star, it’s not the most practical bottle as it doesn’t stand up independently. That one is best kept in its box.

Angel perfume by Thierry Mugler Another one likely to catch the eye is Good Girl by Carolina Herrera. It’s a very large bottle shaped like a blue stiletto shoe, and it’s another one that isn’t practical for every day.
We are a visual nation regarding designer bottles and packaging, especially if you want to take it in your handbag for a night out. Besides a small portion of money going towards the fancy packaging, what else does the customer pay for?
Celebrity perfumes
Every celebrity perfume will have a celebrity endorser.
BOSS ETERNITY MISS DIOR GUCCI JIMMY CHOO DKNY A celebrity endorser is someone famous who uses their status and fame to advertise a product or brand. They get paid thousands of pounds to advertise a product, such as a fragrance, in an advert that may only last 30 seconds. Everything from the hair, makeup, and wardrobe to the backdrop set or destination of the advert will cost money and lots of it.
The Impact of TV Advertising on Perfume Prices During the Holiday Season
TV advertising is another part of where our money goes. You’ll often see perfume adverts, especially around Christmas time, when TV bosses take advantage of viewers watching TV during the run-up to Christmas. Customers are looking for ideas for gifts, and what better way than to showcase a product during peak time?
Christmas adverts seem to start earlier each year, as early as October. The TV screen gets showered in adverts to encourage early sales.
The Production Journey and Longevity of Designer Perfumes
Designer perfume oil is diluted, so the expensive bottle of Chanel No 5 you’ve purchased won’t last as long as you’re hoping. We all expect a scent to last for the working day at best without the need to re-apply. This is the production line before your fragrance reaches your shopping basket.
Manufacturers ➡️ warehouse ➡️ distribution centre ➡️retailers ➡️ customers.
So, when we see what and who is involved in creating a designer perfume, it highlights why the cost can be expensive, especially for top-end brands.
Cost-Effective Packaging and Pure Oil: The FM Perfume Advantage
As we’ve just highlighted about the packaging of designer perfumes, FM uses simple packaging. We don’t need to put our bottles inside fancy boxes. No one sees the box when you purchase a new bottle, so why pay for it?
We also have a simple bottle design. When it comes to FM perfumes, customers are not paying for the bottle. It’s the contents inside that matter the most.
FM perfumes use pure oil. They don’t dilute the perfume oil, so your perfume will last much longer.
Distributor ➡️ customer—it’s a simple process, and because we don’t have a ‘middle man,’ we can keep the costs low for you. There is no advertising, endorsements, or expensive packaging.
Why Switching to Affordable, Long-Lasting Fragrances Makes Sense
We know the importance of having a fragrance that lasts and is kind to your purse/wallet.
Many of you have made the swap and are saving massive amounts on your fragrances.
Remember:
- No one sees the fancy box
- No one sees the fancy bottle
- Celebrities get paid thousands to advertise
- TV adverts cost thousands to produce
- Your perfume oil gets diluted
- There’s a long chain before the customer receives their product.
So, why are designer perfumes so expensive? It’s crystal clear.
We have samples of over 150 fragrances that you can try.

Everyday Perfume
You can wear everyday perfume to work or go shopping without feeling guilty. Imagine having a more affordable bottle for daily use, one you can spray frequently without worrying about being an expensive designer brand.
If you’re reading this, you likely have an interest in perfume. Do you wear a fragrance every day? Many men and women have a favourite scent they use for a daily spritz.
A daily spritz is familiar to many of us. The photo of FM 900 below is currently one of my favourites. It is a bottle of Pure Royal unisex fragrance that contains 20% perfume ( more than your designer bottle, which usually contains 16% as an EDT). This fragrance is Inspired by Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry. What does inspired mean exactly?
Genuine versus fake
- Copied?
- Fake?
- Cheap?
Our fragrances are none of the above. When we come across fake perfumes, several characteristics are not easily noticeable. The most common one will see a phoney perfume sold in the same style bottle as the designer’s and packaged with the same label to make it look like a designer’s fragrance.
As you can see from the picture, our Pure Royal bottle has a unique design—it has not been copied from anywhere. So what about its contents? Well, fake perfume has a darker tinge, while genuine perfume will be a very light colour.
Please take a look at my previous post, Drom Fragrances, which provides insight into where FM originates and how the story began.

The Limited Luxury of Designer Perfumes in the Past
I remember when purse strings restricted me to one or two designer perfumes in my wardrobe. Any more than that was a luxury, and the cost was a little out of my reach 30 years ago. It was a bonus if I had a bottle bought as a present.
When we own an expensive perfume bottle, we rarely spray it daily, such as when going out to work. Such perfumes can be costly, and we can’t justify wearing a pricey fragrance when going to the office or into town to do shopping. On a special occasion, the perfume was used and returned to the cupboard for the following evening out.
Embracing Affordable Luxury with FM: From Limited Choices to a Fragrance Wardrobe
When I started working with FM, the one thing that stood out above everything else was that I could make my purchases, save money, and own far more bottles of quality perfume than I ever had the chance to before.
This alone sold me the idea of working with a network marketing company. Imagine having access to over 150 perfumes, choosing which ones you like, purchasing them at a great price, and wearing your favourite every day.
Spraying a scent, knowing that the bottle can be replaced without waiting for a holiday and a visit to the Duty-Free or for someone to buy you a bottle as a gift, made working for a perfume company even more appealing.
So we fast-forward 30 years, and the wardrobe now has approximately ten different fragrances that can be worn at leisure. No more waiting for that special occasion—there is a different scent to wear every day.
Everyday perfume
FM allows us to choose a fragrance to match our outfits, regardless of where we are going, what we are doing, or what we are wearing. Don’t save your fragrances for a special occasion. Every day should be treated as your best day, so why not enjoy it with your favourite fragrance?
After two years of owning a perfume, opening it but not using it frequently will encourage the scent to ‘turn’ and smell musty. Once this happens, you won’t want to wear it, and those around you may make a sharp exit away from your company!
Choosing the right scent
There are so many wonderful daytime perfumes available, but these are the best ones to spray on before going to work or meeting a friend for lunch.
The best scent to use is one that isn’t overpowering to others around you and is delicate enough to still get others asking what you are wearing. Floral, oriental, and citrus notes are perfect.
Fragrances with a stronger, more powerful scent, like wood, cedar, and vanilla notes, are best used for a night out when you want to make more of an impact. Many of you may not wear a fragrance during the day for many reasons. Some may feel it’s not necessary, and some may see perfume as just an evening accessory.

Before I was introduced to FM, I was the same. I used to wear White Musk from The Body Shop, as this was a delicate scent suitable for daytime and evening and didn’t break the bank. Over the past few years, FM has also introduced a body mist that is ideal for daytime use and is especially good for hot weather when our usual perfume feels too heavy.
These days, affordable fragrances are available wherever we shop, whether online or in-store. However, try to steer away from open markets, where you’re more likely to purchase a fake without realising it.
We love to help others save on purchases and make extra money, so if you have a question about perfume or are interested in working with us, we’d love to hear from you.
You can afford to have more than one perfume and wear your favourite daily.

Solid Perfume
Many of us will have used spray perfumes and aftershaves in the past, but what about solid perfume? Surprisingly, for some, solid perfume has been around for centuries, although it never seems to be advertised as much as liquid fragrances. It comes in several neat and compact forms, such as a balm or lipstick.

Solid perfumes tend to last longer than the spray options because they are in a solid form and contain no water.
We still prefer spray fragrances, as they are the most popular. Wearing perfume or aftershave can lift the mood, make us feel more confident, and compliment an outfit. Perfume lovers tend to have a collection at home and try different ones to suit their needs.
It’s nice to wear a different one every day, too, if you store a few bottles in the wardrobe like myself. Most people prefer the spray, perhaps for its ease of use. A couple of spritzes, and off we go for the day ahead.
Solid perfume comes compact in a tin for convenience Solid perfume can make a great gift Solid perfume stick Perfume and beauty resources
The benefits of using solid perfume
- Using a spray fragrance directly onto the skin requires an alcohol-based product to allow evaporation.
- Solid sticks can be applied directly, making them less likely to irritate the skin. They don’t need the alcohol to help the perfume dry.
- Being in a solid form also makes them a better and safer option for travelling as there are restrictions on taking liquids onto an aeroplane. Add link
- If you’ve ever encountered aromatherapy perfume sticks, these are the same, but with the added healing benefit.
- It is excellent for those who suffer from headaches or struggle to relax. Especially at night when many people may find themselves more awake instead of ready to switch off for sleep.
- Unlike a bottle of your favourite perfume, there isn’t any waste when using solid perfume sticks.
Let’s examine some solid perfumes on the market. FM Cosmetics also offers a small selection of solid fragrance sticks for men and women, worth a look.

FM Cosmetics solid perfume stick Reducing Waste: The Benefits of Solid Perfume Over Designer Sprays
How many of us have tried to spray that last drop out of our favourite scent? When it comes to designer fragrances that cost more money, it makes us even more determined to use the previous drops before we throw the bottle away. No one likes wastage. A perfume stick will wear down to its base, and then it’s ready to be thrown away for a new purchase. There is more general wastage each time we spray a bottle onto the wrists and neck, where half the spray goes anywhere but on the skin!
You will never waste solid perfume like you might with a spray. It won’t leak in your handbag if the lid falls off or the bottle gets smashed.
How Skin and Application Methods Affect Fragrance Longevity
The skin also plays a part in how long a scent will last.
Body sweat can dilute spray perfume depending on what we already have on our skin besides natural oils. Solid perfumes are anhydrous, meaning they do not contain any water, which gives them the advantage of lasting much longer.
Applying a fragrance onto the skin after a shower or on top of Vaseline will hold the scent for longer.

Kinder for the skin
Any product that contains alcohol will affect the skin over time, so if your skin is prone to dryness and you don’t want to miss out on using a daily spritz of your favourite fragrance, a solid perfume is undoubtedly an option and worth a try.
Quick to use on the go
Solid perfumes are more convenient to use when you’re out and about. They can be applied much more quickly and directly onto the skin without impacting your surroundings. Grabbing a bottle of perfume out of your handbag and spraying it onto your neck whilst on the train or in a busy office, you won’t see much favouritism from those around you or your work colleagues.
Bottled sprays leave perfume sillage, which can be overpowering, especially if you love oriental, woody, or citrus notes.
As much as it’s great to have someone admire our scent, it’s a different ball game if they can smell it before we’ve even entered the room!
A solid perfume is a good option if you apply a fragrance regularly throughout the day to freshen up. It is quick and more discreet to apply. What’s more, both men and women can use them. You’ll rarely see a man pulling out a large bottle of aftershave from his briefcase, so they are likelier to use a fragrance stick. Far more masculine, would you agree?
Did you know that you can buy unisex perfume sticks, too? If you’re a couple travelling light, why not buy one you can use?

Best Places to Apply Solid Perfume for Long-Lasting Scent
Like spray fragrances, the wrist is a popular place to wear solid perfume, released throughout the day. A gentle sweep over the top of the solid perfume with your finger is enough to apply to your skin. Another great place to apply perfume is on the neck, which is usually the most common place for women to spray.
Spray perfume evaporates quicker, so a solid stick is an excellent alternative for a longer-lasting fragrance. The pulse points are also ideal areas to apply perfume. More uncommon areas are behind the ears, knees, and the inside of the elbow.
Always aim for the warmest parts of your body, as these areas will help to retain the fragrance throughout the day.
Comparing Costs and Benefits: Solid Perfume vs. Spray Fragrance
Depending on where you purchase solid perfume, it can vary in price, and it tends to be more expensive than a bottle of perfume. The cost is relevant when we consider how much we spray onto our skin compared to solid perfume. Also, it’s a great alternative if you’re not keen on the first few seconds of spraying yourself. Those initial spritzes can be overpowering when applied, especially if you have a robust scented taste in perfume.
Overall, it’s great to try both to see which type you prefer and which is most suitable. Have you tried a solid perfume stick?
