Three stages of perfume notes
We know that perfume goes through three stages when worn on the skin, and we instantly smell the top notes of any perfume.

The top notes are often fresh, citrus, and refreshing. Once they calm down, usually around 5 minutes after being on the skin, we then smell a selection of heart notes.
The heart notes of a scent are the main centrepiece of a perfume, and the notes we smell tend to linger between 6 and 8 hours after the perfume has been sprayed.
As these notes last longer than the top notes, they usually have a lingering floral and woody scent.
Once those heart notes have settled down, we appreciate the base notes, which remain for the rest of the perfume’s duration.
Alongside the heart notes, the base notes are also the scents that those around us will continuously smell.
Base notes are the foundation of perfume and almost the lasting scent and impression.
These notes are the ones that others will remember you by, bring back fond memories and add fullness and depth to your scent.
Base notes are often woody, with a delicate fragrance of musk, and they are the longest-lasting within your chosen perfume.

M by Mariah Carey shows an exquisite purple-based bottle with a lid in the shape of a butterfly—one can assume it fits nicely with her album Butterfly, released in 1997. This amber floral fragrance was launched in 2007. Sitting in the oriental family of notes, M by Mariah Carey captures romance and elegance with its sweet top notes of marshmallows and seawater.

Harry Styles burst onto our screens as a 16-year-old in 2010 when he auditioned for the X Factor. Since then, he has become one-fifth of the boy band One Direction and has continued his success as a solo artist to this day.
Harry has been wearing the scent Memoire D’une Odeur by Gucci since starting in several campaigns for the fragrance.
This gender-neutral scent is perhaps contrary to what we may expect Harry to wear, given his unique fashion wardrobe. A man that possibly has every man and woman, in fact, envious that he can wear absolutely anything and still look good! We visualize a robust masculine scent that turns heads, so his choice of fragrance is a much more delicate approach.
With light herbal notes, it’s not an overpowering scent and is nicely suited as an everyday fragrance.

Since 2017, one of Harry’s favourite fragrances has been Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille.

We have another famous singer who likes its sweet and floral scent. Camilla Cabello enjoys this design, too, and I have to say, it’s one of my all-time favourites.
A first whiff of this fragrance automatically conjures up youth and summer vibes, and it’s no surprise that it’s so popular.

I feel it is a scent with an acquired taste. It has lovely notes, and it’s almost like wearing the smell of a bar of chocolate! It’s one of those fragrances that you either love or hate.
Too many sprays could leave you and others with a headache, as this perfume has a solid vanilla base that tends to linger for a while. The bottle is not the best design for your bedside cabinet, as it doesn’t stand up on its own, so it’s one to keep in the box between sprays.

I limit spraying to my dining room and lounge downstairs just as I leave home. The kitchen, a space for cooking and eating, doesn’t require a perfume scent, nor do the bedrooms. For those areas, scented candles or fragrance sticks are more suitable.
The spray is used in my home, sometimes multiple times a day. Spraying it into the air just before leaving ensures the scent lingers in the room upon return.
Given the many product sprays available, choosing the best one for your home can be challenging. For pet owners, it’s essential to consider scents that aren’t too strong and won’t affect your pet’s well-being. Some sprays may linger on furniture if sprayed directly, so spraying into the air is advisable to prevent any residue on your furnishings.

No. 413 has been a prevalent scent over the past few years as its fragrance notes are very similar to those of La Vie Est Belle by Lancôme.

So what makes this fragrance one of FM’s most popular? Many women love the smell of fruits and deep scents like vanilla and patchouli.
The Lancôme perfume, launched in 2012 and advertised by the beautiful Julia Roberts, has similar fragrance notes.
Celebrities endorsing perfumes encourage us to try that scent to give a sense of feeling and look just as gorgeous as our idols. The only missing ingredient from FM413 is Tonka Bean. If you were to try a sample of FM 413, the smell would be almost identical.
While FM creates its fragrances, it uses the same perfume oil as the designer fragrances created by DROM in Germany.

We already know that no one sees the packaging or fancy bottle when we purchase designer scents, and they can leave a massive dent in the purse/wallet, yet many are still hung up on the idea of owning expensive brands. FM is a cruelty-free fragrance company that stands out for being affordable and creating long-lasting fragrances.
As they have no celebrity endorsers or TV adverts, they can keep the cost down, and therefore, fans of the fragrances can buy several bottles of their favourite perfumes.
Having tried several and having a large selection of my perfumes over the years, I have to say that no.413 is one of my favourites. It’s also a favourite for one of my customers!
It’s suitable for all seasons as it has an oriental feel for wearing during the winter and a selection of fruity notes that pop through to give a spring/summer vibe.
Many women who currently wear La Vie Est Belle have said they can’t tell the difference between their designer bottled scent and FM 413.
It’s an ideal scent to wear during the daytime in the office or out for a lunch date with friends. If you fancy a more substantial version for an evening, there is the intense version option, too. How many designer fragrances give us that option?
FM 413 is a long-lasting fragrance, without a doubt, and will undoubtedly get you receiving compliments as I do when wearing it. Some will compare the Federico Mahora fragrance to that of La Vie Est Belle without understanding that this fragrance isn’t supposed to be a replica of the designer’s scent.
None of the FM perfumes should be compared to the designer scents because they are their brand and company.

What’s also important is how and where we apply our fragrance. Specific points on the skin and body will affect scents differently.

1. Applying perfume after taking a shower or a bath will help your perfume last longer
2. Moisturising your skin will make your perfume last longer.
You can even use a body lotion or cream with the same scent as your perfume for even better enhancement.
3. Perfume loves to sit on moisturised skin, so trying a little petroleum jelly on your pulse points before you spray your perfume will help with its longevity.
4. Many people insist on holding the bottle in front of them as if they are spraying an air freshener. When applying perfume, it’s essential to choose the right points, which are the pulse points.

Getting out of old habits can be challenging. Somehow, we seem programmed to buy expensive perfumes, use them heavily and sometimes wear the wrong fragrance for our skin.
Alternative fragrances by FM Nowadays, there are alternatives; by that, we don’t mean cheap. I don’t like using the word cheap because it always comes across as unfavourable. I want to say it is less expensive and kinder for the purse/wallet.
There are many fragrances out there that are lighter on the purse strings, go a lot further when used correctly, and are still enjoyable, subtle, and longer-lasting for any occasion.
