Factors Influencing Consumer Choice: Why Some Pass on Tom Dixon Candles

Price: Tom Dixon candles are often considered luxury items and priced accordingly. Some individuals may find them too expensive compared to other candle options available in the market.

Preference for Different Scents: While Tom Dixon offers a variety of unique fragrances, not everyone’s preferences align with these scents. Some individuals may prefer different types of scents or brands that provide fragrances that are more to their liking.

Budget Constraints: Even if someone appreciates the quality and design of Tom Dixon candles, they may have budget constraints that prevent them from splurging on luxury home fragrance items.

Availability: Tom Dixon products may not be available in all regions or countries. Limited availability could discourage those who prefer to purchase items they can easily find in local stores.

Environmental or Ethical Concerns: Some consumers may prioritize purchasing products from brands that align with their environmental or ethical values. While Tom Dixon may not necessarily conflict with these values, individuals may prefer brands with more sustainability or ethical sourcing practices.

    Christmas Candles

Christmas time inevitably brings beautiful Christmas candles into our stores. With such a collection, there is something to suit everyone and every home during the festive season.

From small tea light handles to large lantern pillar candles, the flicker of a candle flame makes every home feel warm and inviting. While many consumers will buy candles with a scented fragrance, purchasing one that gives off a scent isn’t necessary to achieve a beautiful ambience in the home.

Whatever your tastes, Christmas brings a large selection of candles to our stores and online so that we can enjoy the traditions and the delight of having friends and family to share them with.

Although candles are typically more popular during Christmas and holidays, many people light them yearly.

During summer, to keep away pesky insects and flies from barbecue food, at birthday celebrations, and in many restaurants, tea light candles set the mood when customers go out to dine. Lit candles can evoke emotions and contribute to a particular atmosphere.

Candles are frequently employed in religious and spiritual practices for reflection and contemplation. Lighting a candle can become a mindful ritual, establishing a quiet and contemplative space for meditation or prayer. This practice is akin to aromatherapy rooms, where lit candles create a relaxing environment for activities such as massage.

    Elevated Mood

The soft light and pleasant scents of candles can positively impact one’s mood. Whether it’s a well-chosen fragrance or enjoying candlelight, both can lift spirits and contribute to a more positive state of mind.

    Festivity and Celebration

Candles are commonly associated with celebrations, and their presence can contribute to a sense of festivity. Whether it’s a birthday cake, a holiday gathering, or any special occasion, candles often mark and enhance the festive mood.

    Intimate and Inviting

Candlelight can create an intimate and inviting atmosphere. It softens the surroundings, encourages conversation, and makes spaces feel more welcoming.

    Making Your Own Candles

Most homes, including my own, have candles. Many are bought from shops or online, but there are several reasons why making your own candles can be a rewarding and worthwhile project.

It doesn’t matter what season we are in; candles are an added accessory to the home that can bring us warmth, joy, and peace. Many candles are available to purchase nowadays, and prices range from very low to expensive, so we thought we would look into a way of making your candles.

    making your own candles
Handmade candles can be infused with petals, crystals and essential oils.

Seven reasons why you should make your own candles

Creative Expression: Making your candles allows you to unleash your creativity. You can choose the wax, fragrances, colours, and container styles that align with your personal preferences and home decor.

You can experiment with combinations to create unique and customised candles that reflect your individuality. If you’ve ever looked on Pinterest, you’ll find some beautiful ideas for making candles.

    Making your own candles

Cost-Effective: DIY candle making can be a cost-effective alternative to purchasing commercially made candles. Buying the necessary materials in bulk can save money in the long run.

Additionally, homemade candles make great gifts for family and friends, saving you from buying expensive store-bought presents.

So many people buy expensive candles and never burn them because they feel it wastes money. Keeping a candle unlit means you won’t appreciate the scent captured within the wax and smell its fragrance.

Quality Control: When you make your candles, you have complete control over the quality of the ingredients. You can choose natural and eco-friendly waxes like soy or beeswax, which are renewable resources and emit fewer toxins than petroleum-based candles.

You can also select high-quality fragrances or essential oils to ensure a pleasant scent without harmful additives. This is ideal for anyone in your household who enjoys the smell of candles but suffers from the toxins when burning.

    Making your own candles

Customisation: One significant advantage of making your candles is the ability to customise them according to your preferences.

You can create candles with specific scents, colours, and container styles to match moods, occasions, or seasons. The possibilities are endless, whether you want calming lavender candles for relaxation or festive cinnamon-scented candles for the holidays.

Therapeutic and Relaxing: Making candles can be therapeutic and relaxing. It allows you to slow down, focus on the present moment, and engage in a mindful activity. The aroma and warm glow of candles can create a soothing ambience, promoting relaxation and stress relief in your home—something we all strive for, especially in current times.

    Making your own candles

Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly: Making your own candles can contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle. Using natural waxes, reusable containers, and eco-friendly materials reduces your environmental impact compared to buying disposable or heavily packaged candles.

You can also recycle or upcycle containers and re-purpose old candles, minimising waste. This topic is huge in the world now, and we should all do our bit to help the environment.

Sense of Accomplishment: Making something with your hands can be incredibly fulfilling. Seeing your finished candles, enjoying their fragrance, and basking in the soft glow can give you a sense of pride and accomplishment.

It’s a tangible result of your creativity and effort, just like when you were at school and made something from scratch. It’s a wonderful feeling when we have created something ourselves.

Overall, making your candles allows you to personalise your living space, save money, control the quality of ingredients, engage in a satisfying and creative hobby, and be a rewarding activity.

    Candles That Help You Sleep

There are various reasons why some individuals may struggle at bedtime to switch off for a restful night. Whilst many of us battle with how to fight this issue, some candles help you sleep.

Here are a few common factors that can contribute to difficulty falling asleep:

    1. Stress and Anxiety: High levels of stress or anxiety can make it challenging to relax and quieten the mind, making it difficult to fall asleep.

Worries, racing thoughts, or overthinking can keep the brain active when it needs to wind down. I can certainly associate with a mind that doesn’t switch off easily.

    2. Poor Sleep Habits: Irregular sleep schedules, inconsistent bedtime routines, excessive screen time before bed, and consuming stimulating substances like caffeine or nicotine can disrupt the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle.

Other factors such as engaging in mentally or physically stimulating activities close to bedtime will also have an effect.

    3. Environmental Factors: An uncomfortable sleep environment can interfere with sleep.

Factors such as excessive noise, uncomfortable room temperature, bright lights, an uncomfortable mattress or pillow, and an uninviting bedroom can all contribute to difficulties in falling asleep.

I have to have complete silence when I go to bed. No TV is on in the background or any kind of noise that will interfere with my mind trying to switch off. Being too hot whilst trying to sleep, especially during the hotter months can be very challenging too.

The fan is helpful but it often blows the warm air around the room, thus still causing issues.

    4. Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions can affect sleep. Examples include insomnia, sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, chronic pain, gastrointestinal issues, hormonal imbalances, and psychiatric disorders such as depression or anxiety disorders.

These conditions can disrupt sleep patterns and make it difficult to initiate sleep. In today’s world, more and more people suffer from mental issues and this has a huge impact on Our sleep patterns.

Over a long period, the damage is very hard to rectify.

    5. Medications and Substances: Certain medications, such as those used to treat allergies, asthma, hypertension, or psychiatric conditions, can have stimulating effects or interfere with sleep. Additionally, substances like caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol can disrupt sleep patterns.

    6. Circadian Rhythm Disorders: Disruptions to the body’s internal clock, such as jet lag, shift work, or irregular sleep-wake schedules, can interfere with the natural sleep-wake cycle, making it difficult to fall asleep at the desired time. My son works night shifts and when he has his days off, he has to stay awake through the night still to keep the pattern of sleep going.

    7. Psychological Factors: Mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or chronic stress can contribute to sleep difficulties. These conditions can lead to racing thoughts, emotional distress, and hyperarousal, making it challenging to relax and initiate sleep.

It’s important to identify the underlying causes of sleep difficulties to address them appropriately.

If sleep problems persist and significantly impact daily functioning, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional or a sleep specialist for further evaluation and guidance.

They can provide personalized recommendations and interventions to improve sleep quality.

    Candles that help you sleep

Candles can indeed play a role in creating a soothing environment that promotes a good night’s sleep. Certain types of candles are specifically designed to aid relaxation and improve sleep quality.

Here are some types of candles that can help you achieve a restful night:

    1. Lavender candles: I love this plant. Lavender is well-known for its relaxing properties and is often used in aromatherapy to promote sleep. Lighting lavender-scented candles can help create a calming atmosphere, reduce anxiety, and induce a sense of tranquillity, which can contribute to a better sleep experience.

    2. Chamomile candles: Chamomile is another popular herb used for its soothing effects. Its gentle and floral scent can help relax the mind and body, making it easier to fall asleep. Chamomile candles can create a cosy ambience that enhances relaxation before bedtime.

    3. Vanilla candles: Vanilla has a comforting and sweet aroma that can create a relaxing atmosphere. The scent of vanilla candles can have a calming effect, helping to reduce restlessness and promote a deeper, more restorative sleep.

Bear in mind that vanilla can be very sweet to the senses and not everyone will enjoy their scent. I avoid anything with a vanilla fragrance as it gives me a headache.

    Using candles safely

When using candles for better sleep, it’s important to ensure safety and proper usage.

Combined, this will help your mind switch off and settle your body down to ensure your sleep is undisturbed and relaxing.

    ■ Always keep candles away from flammable materials and never leave them unattended.

    ■ Opt for candles made from natural and non-toxic materials like soy wax or beeswax.

    ■ Trim the wick before each use to prevent excessive smoke and ensure a clean burn.

    ■ Consider using candle holders or diffusers designed for safe candle usage.

    ■ Extinguish candles before going to bed to avoid any fire hazards.

Remember that while candles can create a relaxing ambience, they should be used as part of a comprehensive sleep routine.

One that includes other sleep-promoting practices, such as maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, creating a comfortable sleep environment, and practising relaxation techniques before bedtime.

    Why are candles so popular?

Candles have remained popular for various reasons throughout history and continue to be cherished by many people today.

Here are some of the reasons why candles are so popular:

Ambience and Mood: Candles create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The soft, flickering light can instantly enhance the ambience of any space, whether it’s a relaxing bath, a romantic dinner, or a cosy evening at home. Candles have the power to create a soothing environment.

Aesthetics and Decor: Candles are often used as decorative items in homes, hotels, restaurants, and other spaces. They come in various shapes, sizes, and colours, allowing people to choose candles that complement their interior design or match specific themes.

Candles can add a touch of elegance, style, and personality to any room.

Celebration and Ceremonies: Candles are frequently used in celebrations and ceremonies worldwide.

From birthdays and weddings to religious and spiritual rituals, candles symbolize joy, unity, and reverence. They are often associated with commemoration and can create a sense of sacredness and solemnity during significant events.

Relaxation and Meditation: Candles are commonly used during relaxation and meditation practices.

The soft, gentle light can help create a serene environment, promoting a sense of calmness and focus. Many people find the act of lighting a candle and watching its flame to be therapeutic and conducive to mindfulness. I know it has this effect on me.

Aromatherapy: Scented candles have gained popularity due to the therapeutic benefits of aromatherapy. Different fragrances, such as lavender, vanilla, or citrus, can evoke specific moods, promote relaxation, relieve stress, or energize the mind.

Scented candles allow people to enjoy the pleasing aroma while benefiting from the ambience they create.

Power Outages and Emergencies: Candles serve as a reliable source of light during power outages or emergencies when electricity is unavailable. Having candles on hand provides a practical and functional solution to illuminate a space temporarily.

Rituals and Traditions: Candles hold significant cultural, religious, and symbolic meanings in various traditions and rituals. They are used in ceremonies, prayers, and remembrances of loved ones, further adding to their popularity and timeless appeal.

Overall, candles offer a unique combination of practicality, aesthetics, and emotional resonance, making them popular for both everyday use and special occasions.

    Conclusion:

Incorporating candles into our sleep routine can be a beneficial and soothing practice that aids in promoting restful sleep.

The soft, flickering light of a candle creates a calm and serene atmosphere, helping to relax the mind and body before bedtime.

The gentle glow of a candle can also help reduce exposure to harsh artificial lighting, such as blue light from electronic devices, which can disrupt our natural sleep-wake cycle.

Additionally, scented candles infused with calming fragrances like lavender or chamomile can further enhance the sleep-inducing effect by creating a soothing and aromatic ambience.

However, it is important to prioritize safety when using candles, ensuring they are placed in a secure holder and never left unattended.

Overall, when used mindfully and safely, candles can be a delightful and effective tool to enhance the sleep experience and promote a more peaceful and rejuvenating night’s rest.

    Christmas Incense Sticks

December is a beautiful time that brings families together, with the home’s crackling fires and gorgeous aromas. Christmas incense sticks are just as popular as scented candles, and there are some beautiful scents to choose from as we head into a favourite time of year for many.

    Christmas incense sticks
    Photo©️fragranceswithlove.com

While incense sticks give off a lovely variety of scents, it’s essential to know that they are not as good for those who suffer from respiratory issues, so just be mindful when purchasing them. The smoke from an incense stick can aggravate the chest, so if, like myself, you are asthmatic, it is best to avoid this and have scented candles or reed diffusers in the home instead.

    Related article: scented candles

What are incense sticks made from?

Incense sticks are made of various materials, including bamboo, wood and herbs. Depending on the type of material used will determine how well and efficiently it burns. Bamboo is a popular choice as it burns slowly and evenly.

Resins and herbs make strong-scented incense sticks. For a more subtle and delicate scent in the home, choose ones made from wood or bamboo. Incense sticks burn more quickly than a candle so that you will use more, but they tend to be cheaper to purchase than your average candle, so you don’t mind burning a few throughout the day.

If you buy good-quality ones, their burn time will vary from 30 to 60 minutes. Some may even last for up to 2 hours. Incense sticks have a more pungent scent than the cones available on the market and will produce more smoke. They are easy to use and are lit directly with a naked flame. Once lit, a gentle flame blow extinguishes it, and the stick will burn with a delicate glow.

A suitable holder is just as important as the sticks themselves. It needs to be fit for purpose without the stick falling over and able to catch the falling ash as it burns.

    Safely first

The same rule applied to lit candles. It is essential to place the incense stick in a safe place where there are no droughts, out of reach of young children and pets and somewhere safe that they won’t accidentally be knocked over.

The benefits of burning incense sticks

Just like candles, wax melts, and reed diffusers, there are great benefits of using incense sticks and not just making the home smell warm and welcoming.

    Relaxing

After a long day at work, a suitable scent can relieve the day’s stresses.

    Improve mental and physical well-being

This a great way to clear negative energy. The scented fragrances will fill the room as soon as they are lit.

    Bring back memories

Like scented candles, burning an incense stick can bring back wonderful memories as we experience ascent.

    A restful nights sleep

If you suffer from insomnia, lavender is known for its relaxing properties. It will aid in a restful night’s sleep. It’s far safer than lighting a candle, too, if you happen to fall asleep while it’s still burning.

Essential oils used in states can improve the air around you, making them a popular choice for those in the therapeutic industry. If you have ever booked a massage, you will notice the soft lighting, candles, and perhaps an incense stick burning.

They also put up your choice of places to practice yoga to help relax the body and mind and concentrate intensely during meditation.

Instructors are mindful of what sense to burn when they use stinks in their classes. They will use natural materials and delicate scents that won’t distract from the activity.

Many religious settings burn incense sticks to create a calming and spiritual atmosphere, and their usefulness will increase significantly at Christmas time.

    A suitable Christmas gift

Sometimes, we may struggle to buy a suitable gift for someone, so purchasing a candle or an incense stick gives us the perfect opportunity to provide an item we know is most likely to be used instead of put away inside the cupboard. They are great value for money and will suit any room in the home.

Your purchase of incense sticks includes some beautiful incense stick holders, including some lovely ones for Christmas time.

With the fragrances of Christmas to bring the festive season into your home and sparkling stick holders, eBay never disappoints customers with their variety.

You can also buy the holders separately if you want a sturdier incense stick base; some are designed to hold additional sticks for storage.

Any home is made beautiful with the addition of candles to bring the cosy nights, so with Christmas fast approaching, we sneak a look at Christmas candle holders.

    Christmas candle holders

For many of us, candles are lit all year round, whether in the garden during BBQ season or to add extra comfort and warmth during the winter months.

Cosy-lit fires, candles burning, and the tree lit up in all its glory bring the magic of Christmas to life for families all over the world.

During the festive season, many candles, from tea lights to large pillar candles, are on sale. They come in a variety of shapes, colours, and sizes to suit everyone.

I’ve noticed one thing when shopping for candles: Some of them don’t always come with a holder.

We know that candles such as Yankee are already contained in their glass jars, and some of the smaller candles may come in suitable jars that can be reused.

What about those needing to sit in a holder before lit?

    Christmas candle holders

    Christmas candle holders

As previously discussed in my article on flameless candles, candle pots, pillar, floating, and jar candles also come with their container.

Choosing ones not already moulded inside their container means we must shop for suitable jars and trays to light the candle safely.

At Christmas, we usually see the table decorations set out with table runners and centrepiece candles to bring the festivities into the home. There are some lovely ideas online to choose from.

Companies have become very creative, and some unusual styles are available.

Tea lights are hugely popular and are possibly the most affordable.

They come as batter-operated (flameless) or lit candles, and you can have single holders or a larger centre piece where the holder will sit several tea lights at one time. They also come in several different colours and scents to suit your choice. Their particular styles bring warmth and a magical feeling into the home during the festive period.

Some will be decorated with a Christmas theme, and some will have the days of December engraved on them so that you burn a section each day as Christmas nears. These are called advent candles and are non-drip, tapered candles with a burn time of 12 hours.

    Stainless steel lantern candle holder

These are some of my favourites because of the elegance they bring into the home. They are best suited for pillar candles.

They come in various sizes depending on where you want them in the home and give off a good amount of light due to their size.

The large ones are suitable for sitting in floor space, perhaps by fire, for that extra cosiness.

This style is also suitable for use outside on the patio during the summer or winter for extra light on a cold evening.

They come with a carry handle, which allows you to hang them from a hook off the garden fence and makes it easier to transport them from one area to another.

  • Candles,  Home scents,  Scented home perfumes

    Summer Scented Candle

Everyone loves candles, and they’re not just for the winter months. Summer-scented candles are just as popular. We already know that candles have existed for many years and have many uses.

    Summer scented candles

Summer sees the BBQ lit, garden parties, windows and doors open, and pretty garden lights around the edges of flower beds. There’s a chilled vibe when sitting in the garden, listening to the birds, and feeling the breeze on our skin.

Outdoor candles have their uses to keep pesky insects at bay. After you’ve spent time preparing food and eventually sit down, a fly appears before you’ve even taken the first forkful! Citronella is famous for keeping insects away from your food.

Candles also make our homes smell gorgeous. During hot weather, we want our homes to smell fresh and cool. When we think of summer, we envision fresh-smelling flowers, citrus, and fruity scents.

Days at the beach or on holiday, sitting by the pool with an ice-cold drink, or just relaxing in the garden and listening to the birds and wildlife are the perfect ways to relax. As the temperature rises and we feel like we’ve reached the summer season, we look for lighter fragrance candles to match our environment.

    Seasonal candle scents

We don’t want heavy scents like cinnamon or spices like nutmeg or ginger. With their solid and crisp fragrances, these are much more suited to winter and Christmas time. So, what type of scents should we shop for when the weather is sunny and hot?

There are plenty of fresh summer scents to create the perfect candle blend. Fragrance notes such as lavender, lemon, floral, citrus, and fruit make a lovely combination.

    Summer scented candles

Sometimes, we risk purchasing too overpowering scents, even when we buy summer candles. If you have one burning in a small room at home, a candle that emits intense fruity or floral scents could be overwhelming.

We don’t want an overload of sweetness, which can become sickly and unpleasant. Larger rooms are better suited for stronger fragrances because they have more space to disperse their scent.

Like perfumes and aftershave, their scents can evoke memories and happy times, making us feel good when wearing them.

The same principle applies to scented candles. Their fragrances wafting through the air can uplift our spirits and make us feel good. Burning a summer candle can transport you to a tropical place, even sitting at home.

    Summer scented candles

Why do we use candles in the summer?

Apart from keeping pesky insects away when eating outside, scented candles are also excellent for masking unwanted odours inside and outside the home.
Entertaining friends and family is a favourite pastime during the summer months. Having a BBQ becomes especially popular when the weather warms up, but the lingering smells from cooked BBQ food or the food waste bin can be less than pleasant.
Masking these odours can make indoors and outdoors more enjoyable for hosting and relaxing, such as watching the sunset with a glass of wine.
You don’t need to spend a fortune to get a lovely fragrance candle, and just a few hours of burn time will provide enough scent to last a few hours.

    Designer Scented Candles

Designer perfumes have been so popular for many years that we now have designer-scented candles as an extension of our luxury scents. Many of us already reach for our favourite perfume scent every morning. It’s part of our wardrobe and routine around getting dressed.

Whether you work in an office, restaurant or beauty salon, there is always a place to wear a scent. Some like their favourite fragrance so much that they extend it into their homes by buying a candle with the same notes.

With so many great candles on the market and online today, we have a variety to choose from. They also make great gifts for any occasion.

    Tea lights

Unscented Tea lights make the home feel cosy during the winter months. There are also scented candles that smell of lemongrass, apples, and vanilla, adding that touch of fruit and sweetness to the home.

    Celebrity influenced

We know celebrities have branched out in many directions regarding the beauty world. Anything from skincare, makeup and perfumes and now we have designer scented candles.

As previously discussed in my articles, celebrity-endorsed perfumes and celebrity skincare, the fragrance industry skyrocketed and continues to be just as popular today.

    Cheaper alternatives

Many shops are eager to sell top designer candles like Jo Malone at cheaper prices. Candles that smell identical to the designer perfumes.

Aldi has seen shoppers hustling in on their Jo Malone range for just £9.99. A 200g candle from their home collection, Oud & Bergamot.

This would set you back £62 if bought from the Jo Malone website. One may question why you would buy a £62 candle when you can purchase the same scent for £9.99.

With a burn time of 45 hours compared to 60 hours for the Aldi brand, another difference is the size of the candle. Compare Jo Malone’s 200g candle with Aldi’s 700g, 3-wick version so it’s not just the price that catches the eye.

    The Benefits Of Incense Sticks

Everyone loves a scent in their home, and the benefits of incense sticks remain as popular as ever. Let’s examine why we use them in our everyday lives.

People have been using incense sticks since 2345 BC; their origins are traced to the Egyptians.

Initially employed for religious purposes, these aromatic sticks are utilized today for various reasons. They contribute to healing, evoke memories, aid in relaxation, promote calmness, and enhance concentration during activities such as meditation and yoga.

Today, they have many uses and have remained a popular home product since their first introduction.

    The benefits of incense sticks

Those who use them for meditation use them as a focal point, similar to those who use their breathing to focus.

Meditation is a spiritual activity which began in India.

Burning an incense stick gives the person something to focus on—the opportunity to switch off like those who practice yoga.

It takes us to another place for that moment in time, where everything else that runs through the mind is pushed aside whilst our mind focuses on breathing techniques and the scent surrounding us.

Quieting the mind is essential for effective yoga and meditation. Burning an incense stick helps achieve this by creating a calming focal point.

They were initially made with natural plants and materials classified as medicinal. Some have antibacterial properties that help clear headaches and improve the immune system; some can help heal scars, pimples, and acne. Burning your favourite scent can also help relieve stress and anxiety.

    The benefits of incense sticks

Everyday stresses and worries surround us, so incense sticks that give off a calm and aromatic scent can help reduce anxiety.

    Happy and creative vibes

Another reason people may use them is to help with creativity. Artists may use them to help bring out their creative side. The sticks also help to bring out happiness and peace and to stimulate the mind to be more innovative.

    The benefits of incense sticks
Artists may use incense sticks to keep them in a tranquil place whilst they paint.

Just like wearing your favourite perfume, having a favourable scent around you will ensure that happy vibes are at the forefront of your mind. No one ever feels terrible when their favourite scent surrounds them.

    Deodorizing the home

One of the most common reasons people burn them is to deodorize their homes.

    The benefits of incense sticks
Remove odours and pet smells by lighting an incense stick to waft a scent through the home.
    The benefits of incense sticks

The smell of pet fur, stale food, or rubbish bins can linger and create an unpleasant odour throughout the home. Read our Hoover fragrances post for another way to eliminate foul odours in the house.

Burning an incense stick gives off a more pleasant smell to mask any unwanted scents around us. They can also work well outdoors to keep insects away.

Pesky insects dislike strong smells, so trendy ones such as lavender and citronella are suggested to keep them at bay.

These particular scents work well when burning them as candles, too. Stores sell candles that can be used outside to keep insects away from your food during summer.

If you have trouble sleeping, incense sticks can also be used. In addition to using a pillow mist spray, which helps to switch you off from everyday thoughts and relax you, make sure you put out the stick safely before you sleep.

The aromatherapy scents best calm the mind and aid in a restful sleep.

    Retreat spa

Have you ever been to a massage retreat spa? While you have a massage, an incense stick is often burning in the room.

The fragrance of an incense stick can help you focus on the scent and switch off your mind. Relaxing your mind helps your body relax, so your body will benefit much more from the massage.

    Using incense sticks safely

Be extra careful when purchasing incense sticks, as some contain chemicals. Choose non-toxic brands and try to find ones that are scented naturally rather than using chemical fragrances.

If you choose ones without a core, they will have a more natural aroma and will not smell of burning wood. Keep them away from any draft caused by open doors, windows, and curtains.

They are straightforward to use. Light the end with a match or a lighter and hold for about 10 seconds, long enough for the stick to ignite.

The flame will usually extinguish on its own. Depending on the size and thickness, the average burning time will be 20-30 minutes. If you wish to put the stick out before it wholly burns away, dip the ignited end into water.

Incense sticks produce a lot of smoke when they burn, so ensure you put them in a ventilated room.

    The benefits of incense sticks
Make sure you have a suitable container for the falling ash

Be mindful that the smoke from an incense stick is a lung irritant, so try not to burn them too often or around those with breathing conditions such as asthma.

    The importance of Chakra

I’m sure many of you have heard of Chakras. This ancient word means ‘wheel’ and refers to the spinning vortexes of the body’s natural energy system.

Recently, I learned that my Chakra has weak energy, and I was absorbing energy from others as my Chakra was closed. When the body is exposed to stress or depression, for example, the chakras will react and create an imbalance.

Ideally, we need all our chakras to be open, promoting balance and freeing energy.

    The benefits of incense sticks

Chakra incense sticks on eBay come in different scents and are great for practising meditation or yoga. One thing to remember when using incense sticks is that, just like using candles, you should ensure you burn them in a safe environment, especially if you have pets or young children.

You can purchase holders inside an incense stick to catch falling ashes. Some are more suitable, so shop for the most suitable one. One of the most popular scents is sandalwood, used for its relaxing benefits.

Lavender and patchouli scents are great for aiding restful sleep. They put you into a deeper, relaxed state, helping you unwind and fall asleep faster.

Depression is such a vast topic, and those who do suffer will undoubtedly benefit from a scent such as frankincense. This fragrance activates the ion channels that will then help alleviate anxiety and depression.

    The benefits of incense sticks

Some incense sticks help kill germs in the environment, and those with antibacterial properties boost health. Scents such as cedar and sage are good for reducing negative energies and spirits from our surroundings.

Rose scent has been found to help and work as a mild painkiller. It can also help lower blood pressure and improve mood. Incense sticks have so many benefits, and they are affordable accessories that can be bought from many online and in-store retailers.
