    Luxury Candles And Their Benefits

Luxury candles have always been popular; surprisingly, they are not too expensive. We all like luxury now and then, whether it’s a holiday, a new perfume or an item of clothing. It’s the feel-good factor of purchasing something.

Retail therapy may have moved more online over the past few years, but that hasn’t stopped anyone from buying the occasional treat. Everyone loves candles. Whatever the time of year or season, they bring charm and cosiness to any home.

    Luxury candle brands

Many people have been using them throughout the summer months. They brighten the garden during warm evenings and help keep pesky insects at bay—a must while we’ve enjoyed BBQs and outdoor space for several months.

I love candles for their fragrance and the tranquillity of watching them burn, especially on a cold winter’s evening.

Some might say they are too nice to burn, but I see little point in having a candle that collects dust, so strike a match, pop one in your lounge/dining room, wherever you wish, and enjoy the atmosphere they create. I’m sure many luxury candles are sitting in someone’s home that has never been lit.

We don’t buy candles to keep as dust collectors, and every day we wake up and breathe is a special day, so go ahead and light that candle.

    What are luxury candles?

Such a word can be misleading, yet it doesn’t have to mean expensive to purchase. Candles are labelled as luxury because of the fine ingredients used in their production. Many are affordable and generally last longer, too, so the money you pay goes that much further.

Unlike luxury perfumes that can carry an eye-watering price tag if you purchase high-quality designer brands, candles are made with better ingredients and longer wicks. Their price doesn’t appear to reflect as much as perfumes do.

Luxury candles usually use top-quality soy, beeswax, or coconut wax. Paraffin wax has a lower price tag so that the candles won’t burn for as long.

Many candles are made with a combination of ingredients, and luxury candles rarely contain tallow. Tallow is a complex, fatty substance derived from animals used to make candles and soap bars.

The best ingredient for a luxury candle is to purchase one that uses soy wax. Yes, it is more expensive, but you will find that those candles made with such ingredients will burn more evenly, and you won’t see as much smoke or soot as you would from cheaper brands.

Many times, we have all purchased candles at the cheaper end of our budget, and after a few hours of burning the wick, the candle burns unevenly and produces a lot of smoke and toxic fumes.

Some candles will have ingredients such as coconut oil or beeswax.

The benefits of using soy candles

Soy candles are non-toxic, so you know that as soon as you light the wick, the candle won’t release any toxins into the air. However, it is worth considering the environment when purchasing certain types of candles.

If you are a pet owner, it is much more beneficial for the animal to have a healthier and cleaner option in your candle product. We know that soy wax candles are made of plants, so they won’t release harmful toxins into the atmosphere, so your pets will be safe.

Whilst soy wax candles are a better choice for your home, they still impact the environment. They contribute to deforestation, affecting animals that live on the surrounding land, those that use trees as their habitat, and aquatic life.

That said, they are still one of the most popular when it comes to candle production.

Pros and cons of buying paraffin wax candles

Paraffin wax has benefits when used therapeutically (it increases blood flow, relaxes muscles and joints, and relieves body pain).

Paraffin wax also has cosmetic benefits, such as moisturizing the skin to keep it soft and supple. However, with the good also comes the bad. Paraffin wax contains harmful toxins.

If you have ever burned a paraffin candle, you may already have noticed the soot deposited onto your furniture or interior walls. It is not a pleasant sight and can be difficult to remove.

When you burn a paraffin wax candle, it is similar to burning petroleum, the same fumes we get from our cars, as paraffin is a component of petroleum. Such fumes can quickly enter the lungs and become a big issue, especially in children.

If we use paraffin wax, our environment suffers, too. As it is a petroleum-based source, it harms the environment, just as car fumes impact our world. Paraffin’s components make it highly flammable, making it not a safe item to have in your home.

Once lit, there is no control over how that candle will burn.

    The benefits of beeswax

Beeswax is an eco-friendly and better option. It is 100% natural and a renewable source. When you burn a candle made of beeswax, it does not produce smoke or soot and, therefore, burns much cleaner.

Beeswax is an eco-friendly and better option. It is 100% natural and a renewable source. When you burn a candle made of beeswax, it does not produce smoke or soot and, therefore, burns much cleaner.

They are a healthier option and are very safe for your lungs, children, and pets.

    Luxury candles

The pros and cons of buying coconut wax

Coconut wax is cleaner and more sustainable than soy candles when burning candles. It burns more slowly, and the fragrance in a coconut wax candle will fill your home with a beautiful scent. Coconut wax is eco-friendly and suitable for vegans who may prefer not to buy beeswax.

Coconut wax is more expensive than the other wax candles listed because it has a better environmental impact, a safer burn, and no toxic fumes.

It can be hard to find a candle made of pure coconut wax, as many candles use different types of wax when they are created.

Many candles contain a mixture of wax to prevent the candle from tunnelling when it is burning and to slow the burn.

    Luxury candle brands

Some may be led to believe that coconut wax candles smell of coconut. And a scented candle will be just that, unscented. It’s not until the fragrances are added to that wax that you appreciate the scents available.

    Wicks

If you are buying a candle with a cotton wick, it is essential to trim it. This will help the candle burn and prevent carbon and soot buildup. You will still experience a good fragrance from the candle. You may notice that some candles have quite a long wick, and people often forget to trim them before lighting.

If lit without trimming, they will burn faster, have a hotter flame, and produce more soot.

Candles are often like expensive perfume. We only use them for special occasions, but what if you could buy a candle that smells the same as your perfume and at a price you can afford? Visit our online shop for a selection of luxury candles whose scent is inspired by some of the top names in the perfume world.

    Summer Scented Candle

Everyone loves candles, and they’re not just for the winter months. Summer-scented candles are just as popular. We already know that candles have existed for many years and have many uses.

    Summer scented candles

Summer sees the BBQ lit, garden parties, windows and doors open, and pretty garden lights around the edges of flower beds. There’s a chilled vibe when sitting in the garden, listening to the birds, and feeling the breeze on our skin.

Outdoor candles have their uses to keep pesky insects at bay. After you’ve spent time preparing food and eventually sit down, a fly appears before you’ve even taken the first forkful! Citronella is famous for keeping insects away from your food.

Candles also make our homes smell gorgeous. During hot weather, we want our homes to smell fresh and cool. When we think of summer, we envision fresh-smelling flowers, citrus, and fruity scents.

Days at the beach or on holiday, sitting by the pool with an ice-cold drink, or just relaxing in the garden and listening to the birds and wildlife are the perfect ways to relax. As the temperature rises and we feel like we’ve reached the summer season, we look for lighter fragrance candles to match our environment.

    Seasonal candle scents

We don’t want heavy scents like cinnamon or spices like nutmeg or ginger. With their solid and crisp fragrances, these are much more suited to winter and Christmas time. So, what type of scents should we shop for when the weather is sunny and hot?

There are plenty of fresh summer scents to create the perfect candle blend. Fragrance notes such as lavender, lemon, floral, citrus, and fruit make a lovely combination.

    Summer scented candles

Sometimes, we risk purchasing too overpowering scents, even when we buy summer candles. If you have one burning in a small room at home, a candle that emits intense fruity or floral scents could be overwhelming.

We don’t want an overload of sweetness, which can become sickly and unpleasant. Larger rooms are better suited for stronger fragrances because they have more space to disperse their scent.

Like perfumes and aftershave, their scents can evoke memories and happy times, making us feel good when wearing them.

The same principle applies to scented candles. Their fragrances wafting through the air can uplift our spirits and make us feel good. Burning a summer candle can transport you to a tropical place, even sitting at home.

    Summer scented candles

Why do we use candles in the summer?

Apart from keeping pesky insects away when eating outside, scented candles are also excellent for masking unwanted odours inside and outside the home.
Entertaining friends and family is a favourite pastime during the summer months. Having a BBQ becomes especially popular when the weather warms up, but the lingering smells from cooked BBQ food or the food waste bin can be less than pleasant.
Masking these odours can make indoors and outdoors more enjoyable for hosting and relaxing, such as watching the sunset with a glass of wine.
You don’t need to spend a fortune to get a lovely fragrance candle, and just a few hours of burn time will provide enough scent to last a few hours.

    Designer Scented Candles

Designer perfumes have been so popular for many years that we now have designer-scented candles as an extension of our luxury scents. Many of us already reach for our favourite perfume scent every morning. It’s part of our wardrobe and routine around getting dressed.

Whether you work in an office, restaurant or beauty salon, there is always a place to wear a scent. Some like their favourite fragrance so much that they extend it into their homes by buying a candle with the same notes.

With so many great candles on the market and online today, we have a variety to choose from. They also make great gifts for any occasion.

    Tea lights

Unscented Tea lights make the home feel cosy during the winter months. There are also scented candles that smell of lemongrass, apples, and vanilla, adding that touch of fruit and sweetness to the home.

    Celebrity influenced

We know celebrities have branched out in many directions regarding the beauty world. Anything from skincare, makeup and perfumes and now we have designer scented candles.

As previously discussed in my articles, celebrity-endorsed perfumes and celebrity skincare, the fragrance industry skyrocketed and continues to be just as popular today.

    Cheaper alternatives

Many shops are eager to sell top designer candles like Jo Malone at cheaper prices. Candles that smell identical to the designer perfumes.

Aldi has seen shoppers hustling in on their Jo Malone range for just £9.99. A 200g candle from their home collection, Oud & Bergamot.

This would set you back £62 if bought from the Jo Malone website. One may question why you would buy a £62 candle when you can purchase the same scent for £9.99.

With a burn time of 45 hours compared to 60 hours for the Aldi brand, another difference is the size of the candle. Compare Jo Malone’s 200g candle with Aldi’s 700g, 3-wick version so it’s not just the price that catches the eye.

    Yankee Scented Candles Review

Not many of us don’t like candles, especially Yankee-scented candles. I first noticed these wonderful creations several years ago at my local garden centre at Christmas. Visiting a garden centre is always a delightful place to visit during the festive season, with its tree ornaments, garlands and unique gifts.

Head over to the candle section, and you’ll find shelves full from floor to ceiling with various colours, styles, and gorgeous-smelling scents. You can smell the fragrances as soon as you walk through the door. With so many to choose from, the decision often becomes difficult.

Why a Beautiful Candle Is Worth the Investment: Fragrance, Style, and Burn Time Matter

When it comes to candles, a classy design is just as crucial as a gorgeous fragrance. After all, candles are on show in our homes, so it’s good to go for one that looks elegant and homely. The Yankee will overstretch the budget if you’re looking for cheap candles.

We get what we pay for, so I believe in spending a little more to have a better quality product that will last. Tea light candles are often cheap to purchase whenever they are on sale, which is pretty much all year round.

Some will last reasonably well and have excellent burning time, but some may not last as long or burn correctly. The Yankee candle comes in three different sizes, so if the price of a large one is more than you’re prepared to pay, the smaller options are great, too. Having a good burn time for all three sizes of jars makes the home smell gorgeous, regardless of the season or reason for purchasing them.

Yankee Candles: A Timeless Favourite for Fragrance, Ambience, and Quality

From experience, Yankee Candles are more expensive when purchased from small businesses or gift shops. The smaller companies will often have a higher price tag, so it pays to shop around before you buy. Yankee candles burn more evenly than some on the market; therefore, the price reflects this quality.

As it’s often said, we get what we pay for, and I feel that spending a little more for a candle that will last a long time and burn evenly is something that every home needs. It also needs to burn safely. Always pay special attention to candles when lit.

Although Yankee candles burn safely inside their jars, please don’t leave them unattended or around small children who could knock them over or scald themselves. There’s something about burning candles at home that gives a sense of warmth, calmness, and a wintry feel once the curtains are closed for the evening. They can also be used all year round, not just for cosy nights. Remember to prep your candle before it’s first lit.

    1. History: Yankee Candle was founded in 1969 by Mike Kittredge in South Hadley, Massachusetts. The company started as a small operation, with Kittredge initially making candles as a gift for his mother.
    2. Product Range: Yankee Candle offers various scented candles in different sizes and styles. Their product line includes jar candles, pillar candles, tea lights, wax melts, and more.
    3. Fragrance Variety: One of Yankee Candles’ notable features is its extensive variety of fragrances. It produces floral, fruity, fresh, festive, and seasonal scents. Some of its popular scents include “Vanilla Cupcake,” “Clean Cotton,” and “Autumn Leaves.”
    4. Seasonal Collections: Yankee Candle regularly introduces seasonal collections that align with holidays and changing seasons, including special editions for Christmas, Halloween, and other festive occasions. Many homes will have a Yankee Candle burning at Christmas.
    5. Jar Candles: The Yankee Candle jar candles are particularly iconic. They come in various sizes, with the large jars being trendy. The jars often feature distinctive labels and lids.
    6. Accessories: Yankee Candle offers a range of accessories, such as candle holders, wax warmers, and various decorative items, to complement its products.
    7. International Presence: Yankee Candle has expanded its presence globally over the years. Its products are available in many countries, making it a widely recognized brand in the home fragrance industry.
    8. Personalization: Some Yankee Candle stores offer personalized candle labels, allowing customers to create custom candles for special occasions or as gifts.
    9. Community Engagement: Yankee Candle has been involved in various community and charitable initiatives. They have also collaborated with charities to create unique edition candles to support causes.
    10. Online Presence: Yankee Candle has a solid online presence, allowing customers to browse and purchase products through their website.

Yankee candles are available on eBay.

My rating: 9 out of 10

Once you’ve used your candle and it’s burned away, it’s a great idea to reuse the jar. Dress it up or pop a tea light at the bottom. The jars are very sturdy, and they come in several fragrances. The jars also come with a lid, an excellent way of holding onto the scent when the candle is not lit. If you’re prone to headaches around strong fragrances, try to choose the more delicate scents. Some winter scents can be a little overpowering if they’re sitting in a small room in the home.
