Mineral Based Cosmetics
Women spend a fair amount of money on fragrances, so why not spend the same on mineral-based cosmetics? There are many benefits to wearing mineral makeup, and given the damage that everyday life can do to our skin, it’s the way forward.
The weather, summer or winter, dramatically impacts the skin. If we are in the sun for long periods, we dry it out, making it feel tight and irritated due to a lack of moisture. Heating during the winter can also remove essential oils from the skin.
Men and women constantly spend money on skin care products to help with the damage done by the weather and our daily surroundings. When I first began working with FM World, a perfume and cosmetics company, the women often asked me if our makeup was mineral-based.
Why do we look for such in our cosmetics?

Mineral makeup started around the early 1970s by a lady named Diane Richardson Ranger. She began creating her body products even though she had no experience. She was enthusiastic nevertheless and pushed forward to eventually opening her body care boutique in Northern California.
Diane saw the potential and need for natural body care products, so she created makeup that was free from perfumes, alcohol, dyes, emulsifiers, and mineral oil.
We all look for cosmetics that are kind to our skin and still give the same results as traditional cosmetics.
Mineral-based cosmetics will essentially have a higher price tag, but unlike purchasing perfume, we get what we pay for.
The benefits of mineral-based cosmetics
The ingredients are safe and can be used on sensitive skin. People with troublesome skin, such as acne or dermatitis, often seek a more gentle alternative. Mineral-based cosmetics contain Ingert ( a type of gas that does not undergo chemical reactions).
Ingert gases are generally used to prevent unwanted chemical reactions from degrading. They are also bacteria-free, so they won’t expire.
The effective ingredients found in mineral makeup help the skin heal, protect, and soothe. Using natural ingredients keeps the cosmetics free of irritating chemicals such as fragrances, waxes, synthetics, gluten, and parabens. ( These are preservatives that are widely used in cosmetics.)
Having a glowing complexion and a natural look is essential to women.
So, by using mineral makeup, the ingredients will promote much healthier skin and are less likely to clog the pores. When our pores get clogged with makeup, this leads to bacteria and infection.
Adaptable pigments that can be used wet or dry, such as eye shadow, body shimmer, lip colours, and blusher, give a more versatile option.
The coverage is easier to build up and layer without looking or feeling heavy. The use of fewer ingredients will also reduce the chance of irritation of the skin.
Everyone’s skin is different, so long-lasting mixtures have the added advantage of binding the skin’s natural oils and being water-resistant for a lasting finish.
Mineral-based makeup protects the skin but creates a barrier from harmful outside elements. It can also add some protection from the sun’s rays.
Whilst mineral makeup is better for the skin, it is still widely recommended that all traces be removed before bed.
Makeup left on overnight will seep into the pores of the skin, and this is when bacteria can set in. No matter how tired you are from a night out with friends, make sure to remove your makeup before anything else. Using a gentle cosmetics remover will further benefit the skin and leave it soft, cleansed, and youthful.
The healthier option
Mineral makeup binds to facial oils, which is much better for the skin and gives the makeup natural water resistance. It’s crucial to choose the right cosmetic. A good product will let the skin ‘breathe’ whilst wearing it and protect it from harmful rays, as mentioned earlier. Products that contain titanium dioxide will make it excellent.
Having the advantage of mixing products and colours gives the wearer a much more versatile option, and layering for a natural glow is what every woman aims for.
How long does mineral makeup last?
Due to their ingredients, most cosmetics have a long shelf life, which works well when many women accumulate a fair-sized collection of makeup. However, it’s disappointing and difficult to throw away cosmetics that haven’t been used as often as others.

There will always be products that need to be discarded because of their shelf life or because their consistency has changed, making them no longer suitable for use.
Mineral makeup doesn’t allow bacteria to grow because there is a lack of organic material. This is a comforting thought.

Perfumes And Cosmetics
Perfumes and cosmetics have always gone together. Wearing a favourite fragrance makes both men and women feel good. Wearing cosmetics gives women extra confidence with the bonus of complimenting an outfit.
Of course, there are always days when neither is required, such as during the several lockdowns from 2020 to this year, when many of us worked from home.
The only people I saw were immediate family living in the same house or work colleagues on the other side of a computer screen during a Zoom call.
Back then, we enjoyed the bonus of switching the camera to display a glamorous profile photo instead of showing our everyday reality.
Wearing pyjamas, having our hair tied up, and skipping make-up or perfume felt relief. It meant we didn’t have to try to look good on those days.

There was no need to look your best when no one was visiting the office or going out to see customers.
Men get away with far more when it comes to appearances. They wake up looking just the same as they went to bed. Perhaps their hair is slightly messy, but they don’t need to “lam up” for a conference call.
The Real Reasons Women Wear Makeup
Women have been wearing make-up for many years, and around 44 per cent of American women will not leave their homes without it.
So, what are the two primary reasons why women wear make-up?

Concealment/ camouflage
Even if women don’t wear a full face of make-up, such as eye shadow or lip gloss, many will reach for the foundation to cover any imperfections. This alone will give women more confidence and hide any insecurities they may have about their appearance.
Just a dab around the eyes to conceal the dark shadows that many women develop as they age will have the same effect.
Seduction
Women constantly aim to be prettier, more glamorous, and more confident. The media plays a massive part when we see models, pop stars, and actors looking glamorous on screen. Some even feel that they must keep such appearances off-screen when shopping.
Others will disguise themselves with hats and sunglasses to blend in with the public. Some will walk out bare-faced regardless of getting photographed, which shows true confidence in their appearance.
I find this compelling and accurate statement to all women out there. We can be confident on the outside if we change our mindset and be confident within.
From a young age, women were taught that looking attractive was essential for success in relationships, careers, and building friendships.
School-age children often compare themselves to others and see the popular girls in class gaining more attention from the boys because they are prettier.
Once they are old enough to wear makeup, give these girls the confidence they need as they grow into women. Young children often experiment with their mum’s makeup and wear lip gloss or blusher to copy what their mum is wearing. As unfair as this seems, attractive women are treated differently and more favourably when it comes to success in jobs and relationships.
Key Features We Notice First in Men and Women
The first feature we notice in others is their eyes. While men have little choice when it comes to making their eyes stand out, women take full advantage of the selection of products available to make their eyes dominate.
Another feature is the lips. Women tend to have darker lips naturally, as well as the skin around the eyes.
Lipstick/lip gloss is an excellent product for making the lips more prominent and seductive. Red lipstick is known to make women appear more attractive to men.
Adding a complimentary shade to the lips can make a huge difference, and some women feel that just wearing a lip is enough to step out of the house.
Men notice eyes and lips first and are drawn to these features, so women often enhance those for this reason. The foundation is the top cosmetic product that women will use first. Even if there is no other cosmetic, hiding any imperfections helps to even out the skin tone or cover imperfections, making a huge difference in confidence.
Adding a pink-based blusher will also give the appearance of younger-looking skin as it looks similar to our natural glow. Eye shadow, mascara and eyeliner can help maximize your natural eye colour and make the eyes look larger and more evenly shaped. Be careful wearing too heavy or too dark a colour as this can make the eyes look smaller and aged.
When it comes to make-up, less is most definitely more. We’ve fallen into the trap of constantly applying a bit throughout the day to the point when we have too much.
Good lighting at home is essential and makes a huge difference. Nothing is worse than leaving the house, catching yourself in the rearview mirror in daylight, and seeing that what we thought was a subtle amount has become overpowering.
We are ready to face the world after applying make-up and spritzing with our favourite fragrance.
