How I Created Fragrances With Love

How I Built This Blog (and How You Can Too)

When I first started this blog, I had a passion for fragrance but no background in websites, SEO, or online income. Like many people, I had ideas, enthusiasm, and plenty to say — but no clear path for turning that into something sustainable.

This blog wasn’t built overnight. It grew step by step, through learning, trial and error, and using the right tools in the correct order.

Starting With an Idea (Not Technical Skills)

You don’t need to be “techy” to start a blog. I wasn’t. What mattered most was having a topic I genuinely enjoyed writing about and wanted to keep learning more about. Everything else — website setup, writing posts, improving traffic, and monetising — came later.

Building the Website

My first goal was to get a website online that looked clean, worked properly, and was easy to manage. I needed:

  • A simple way to set up WordPress
  • Clear guidance instead of random tutorials
  • Tools that didn’t require coding

Having everything in one place made a huge difference. Instead of jumping between platforms and advice, I could focus on actually building content.

Learning How Blogging Really Works

Writing posts is only part of blogging. I also had to learn:

  • How people find blog posts on Google
  • How to structure articles so they’re easy to read
  • How to avoid beginner mistakes that slow growth
  • How blogs make money through ads and affiliate links

These were things I learned gradually, applying them as I went rather than all at once.

Growing Traffic Over Time

Traffic didn’t appear instantly — and that’s normal. Blogging is a long‑term project. By consistently publishing helpful articles and improving older ones, my blog slowly gained visibility.

The key was understanding why some posts perform better than others and making minor improvements rather than constantly starting over.

Turning a Blog Into Income

Once the blog had structure and traffic, monetisation came naturally. This included:

  • Affiliate links to relevant products
  • Display advertising
  • Partnering with brands and platforms that aligned with my niche

The focus was always on helping readers first; income followed.

How You Can Build Your Own Blog

If you’ve ever thought about starting a blog — whether as a hobby, side income, or long‑term project — the most crucial step is learning the foundations properly.

That’s why I recommend the same platform I used to build this blog. It provides:

  • Step‑by‑step training for beginners
  • Website hosting and tools in one place
  • Guidance on writing, SEO, and monetisation
  • A supportive community when you need help
